Reordering Update

On top of that the team clearly have some banking issues which were all triggered by them not for-warning the bank that their annual turnover was about to increase by about 40 fold over the next few days. What has happened since then, I'm sure we'll never really know.
Yet I mention this to you again, this is an assumption, I don't think you would have any idea if craigix did inform the bank or not.

Also, from what I read the keymats were instructed to be sent to MWeston. Also, I think you would have no idea of the action mfk took with the keymats, even with that video I think you are still making an assumption, you would have to ask mfk what happened there.

just show me one that works ! no lcd movie or pictures, just one where somebody is typing on a pandora.
my guess is that's the next video that is going to be uploaded, but probably not in a full assemble case, yet.
so there is not 1 full assembled case yet ?
Why are the selling thousands of units if it's not ready ??

Also people getting mad if i ask about this.
I thinks there is gonig to be a lot of dissapointed people in a couple of week.
When they realize the are not going to get what they want.

Those of us who have been following the project since the beginning,
know what time and effort has gone into develloping this system.
Because the people working on the pandora know what they're doing.
without craig, evildragon,... the gp2x wouldn't have sold that well and there
probably wouldn't have been such a big community supporting the devellopment of the pandora.

they're clearly not as much in it for the money as Nintendo or sony or microsoft,
that's why I have faith in these people.

PS: The businessworld is a damn nasty one, what openpandora is doing is really not that straightforward and easy.

It is really hard to move you up to date, when you join the party that late ;)
Take some time and read old forum posts.
This is a community project, thus it is a little "different" to what you might know.

oke thanks for the answer.

If i read the comments, they wanna put the units with keypads together themselfs ?
all 3000 ! I think it's not very realistic.

Those guys may have made some beautifull console, but they don't know about bussiness i think.
If you look at it from outside the community it looks like a big scam.

I beleive about the community making software on linux. But i have big doubt about the hardware.
There are simply too little people working on that i think.
And the price for those units is very low. I don't know if it's realistic.

@patman.

You're right it's a scam. There is no way they could create that awesome device for such a low cost with so few people. Best give up and Pandora and go troll on the PSP2 boards.

bye.

You've got that wrong. They don't assemble the devices themselves. The project just needs the last prototyping steps to be completed and then everything goes into mass-production. The devices will be assembled in a real factory, not at home on the kitchen table

So you're telling me you'd rather believe that Craig went to the bank, told them near on a million pounds would be coming their way, and the bank went 'Sounds good to me'. And after that, they changed their minds?

In which case Craig should have some kind of agreement in writing...

I am making an assumption that the keymats were taken to some kind of meet? I think the existence of the video is proof in itself that the keyboard mat was at the meet, and a post Craig had made earlier assured people it was on its way to MWeston. MWeston's response was also pretty indicative of the fact that he was expecting the mats to be on their way to him.

And, yes, Craig did insinuate that they asked for the mats to be shipped to MWeston. Now it's possible that they did, and the company simply failed to process the request properly. Human error happens. But it can happen from both sides. It's also just as possible that the person who placed the order forgot to give the correct
shipping address, and doesn't want to admit it in a public forum. Consider the amount of sleep the Pandora team claim not to be getting, I know which one I'd be placing my money on...

Either way, all I'm seeing from Pandora team at the moment is finger pointing. Whether it's banks, or keypads, the Pandora team always seem to be 100% guilt free. And I just don't buy it.

As I've said before. I think the team have accomplished a great deal so far, and it would be a shame to see it all collapse at the last hurdle. But if it does collapse, you can be sure that there'll be fingers waving all over the place.

The fanboys will believe every word the Pandora team tell them. And be angry at the banks for forcing them to transfer their money in an insecure way.

The conspiracy theorists will believe that Craigx and the guys have bought an Island in south east asia with all the fanboys money and are living lives of luxury.

Then there will be the rest of us. The reasonable folk who will be left wondering (but well aware we will never discover) just what the real story was.

Anyway. One thing we can all agree on is that we hope it doesn't end up that way. We wish the guys the best of luck pulling through these awkward times, regardless of who is to blame for any particular given hiccup, and we all hope to be using our Pandora's sometime in the first quarter of 2009.

Merry Christmas to each and every one of us!

I don't think the keymat is the only one of it's kind. The process of producing it has many variables to be met, like the right temperature of the material, the cooling system and the tool(I've worked in such a facility when I was a student). You can't only produce one mat at a time. You have to produce a batch and sort out the bad ones. When Fatih shows one mat on that meeting, that doesn't necessarily mean, that the rest isn't already on their way to MWeston ;)

Merry Christmas :)

Edit:
On Fatih's pics in the news section you can see two mats.

Edit:
I think, I've identified the cause of the bump in the middle of the F-key row. Underneath are the two large side pins that fix the USB-port on the board. When the unit is assembled, the pressure of the case and board will hold the buttons in place.

Mali The picture of Chopper santa fits you like a charm.

Any ( updated ) news on the amount of people that ordered via Bank transfer?
Im one of the poor dudes who have to wait until everything is sorted out.
...You know bank of canada... IN AMERICA.......DEPENDENT of the US.

Meh :(.
A nice : Only 200 people left until we can process the credit cards !
Would be appreciated.

EDIT: oh and Merry Christmas and Happy Hanuka !

I've warned them of this too already. Unfortunately, it sounds like there is little that they can do about it at the present. If their bank is forcing them to take 40% of the orders/money in through other means than credit cards then there are only three options.

1. Take the chance and help them get to the 1800 orders through bank transfers and such.
2. Wait for the credit card page to come up once they reached that point.
3. Hold out for the second batch.

Since I've been following this for while now, I highly doubt that this whole thing has been a scam. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence that leads me to believe that their intentions are honorable at least. This doesn't mean that there isn't any risk involved though.

This is why I made the suggestion earlier to give all of the people ordering through bank transfer a limited edition version of the Pandora. Craig and the Pandora team are asking for 1800+ people to take that risk but are offering nothing in return besides a refund of the transaction fee which we pretty much already paid when we ordered the first time. A limited edition Pandora wouldn't really cost them any more to make but would make it special, if not worth more money if it were to be sold. In any case, it would make it worth more to the people buying it. Hopefully enough to get people to take the risk now that there is a reward associated with it.

Don't listen to me though. I never know what I'm talking about. :)

I hope they get there one way or another. I'd be very disapponted if this thing failed. Then I've have to settle for a Wiz. :(

well, I've bit the bullet, my international bank order has been dispatched. It's all in the laps of the gods now...... ;) (199 people left)

Sorry, I know this has been asked a million times but I just havent got the concentration to read through the whole of this thread haha ;)

Basically, if you need to reorder, is the situation like this?

- You can reorder now via bank transfer
- Or yuo can wait till the credit card page comes up?

:)

Just got through doing a wire transfer from the US. Pretty quick and painless. I just noticed on the receipt though that I may be eating a transfer fee of $40 - ouch :( Ah well, the pains of early adoption.

Did my bank transfer in the UK today in person.

Painless except for the £30 fee. Ouch. Still, its done now.

Merry Chrimbo everybody!

Well, I went to the bank to do the bank transfer... my bank (City National) wanted $50! I'm sorry but that's outrageous. I guess I'm just going to have to wait for the CC reorder page. Unless someone's got a better idea.
