Re-order Emails Going Out Now

If a meteor turns the factory and all the parts into a smoking crator then we're probably screwed.

Now, this is worrying! Why is this the first we've heard of this meteor risk? Why didn't Craigix mention this issue in any of his emails or news posts? Is he keeping it secret?

All I'm asking is
- Can you tell us for sure whether or not a meteor will strike the Pandora factory?
- Do you have any photographs of it not striking the Pandora factory?
- Will this meteor strike effect those of us who paid with Visa-based debit cards? Or just everybody else?

I don't think I'm being unreasonable here. I'm not asking for "more information", I just want Craigix to come clean on the meteor issue.

I think if we make it through Nov 9th, we are OK until December:

Apart from the fact that the BIN identifies it as a debit card, and that debit cards attract a fixed fee rather than a percentage of the transaction... ;)
This is only true for merchants who are set up to accept debit cards. Some are, most aren't. If you didn't enter your debit pin number then it is a credit card transaction.
Chip that may be true for the States but its definitely not true for the UK. Under UK legislation you will NEVER be asked to enter your PIN number unless you are physically present.

I paid with Maestro. It's a UK debit card, and no PIN was requested.

If craig said everyone will keep his position in queue, I want to trust him, and if we're gonna receive a request to reorder, I will do it again almost for sure.
Again, it's a no-no worries for us, queue order remains the same, payment transfer will obvioulsy remain the same (eheh if the price asked will be higher/lower due to different money exchange, keep in mind that also the refund will be changed as well for the same motivation (unless your currency drops a lot in the time between refund and reorder)).. so just we wait and we'll have the nicest present this december :)

you're right, pincode is never requested no matter the country. You type in your pincode only on ATM machines and when you pay in the shops, but always secretly typing, never penwriting or loudspeaking.
This is valid for all kind of cards, not only CC but also for normal Bank ATM cards or pre-paid creditcards.

I can confirm this. The only time you use your PIN in the UK (for a credit/debit card) is in stores or at an ATM. It is never used for internet transactions

every muscle and bone in my body wants to be trusting of everything going on with the little amount of information we are given, it really could just be legal terms that are keeping it this way.
but all this speculation and hype could be cleared up so easily it would seem, maybe a picture of the stockpile of lcd's and possibly the pcb's, i dont think there would be anything counter-productive by snapping 2 photos and relaxing a whole lot of people that they truly are well on their way to a glorious product.

im trying to be relaxed and trusting about this, no flaming or rude comment given.

I know Chip has already responded to this one, but... in a general sense when people speculate like this and make people think doom is on the way (or at least it might be) is that really helping the situation? You don't know, and it's serving nothing besides making already antsy customers more nervous and adding to the chaos which - from what I understand - is already worse than it should be.

I'm personally not worried, but seriously, less of this might be nice because I can't imagine it's doing anything to help the situation, and unless there's facts behind it I don't think it's good to cause people more worry.

Just my five cents.

i apoligize if that was directed towards me. i mean not to be predicting doom, but just it seems that it wouldnt be hard to clear up all that speculation easily, but im sure theres a reason it hasnt been and everything is fine.
i will be preordering and everyone else should too.

It's not just you, I'm seeing a lot of this and while some of it may even be good natured I just don't think it's helping matters. Similarly there could be a lot of reasons which I won't speculate on why there's a limited amount of information, including legal ones.

Now, if Chip/Craig can be open about the situation I'll happily reorder with a credit card. If another variant of "Everything's fine" is produced, I'll keep my money.
So if they tell you it's fine you won't re-order, but they are "open", which I take it you mean give us the bad news you believe they are so obviously hiding from us, then you would be happy to re-order?

Seriously, I don't know what you expect. There are also times when you cannot disclose everything. Normally you would just get an email like "Sorry, there's been a problem with your payment. If you still want the product do <this> or you can have a refund. Have a nice day." The email seems pretty straight forward. What can they possibly say?

I wouldn't pay with a debit card or a bank transfer, but that's not a reflection on Pandora in particular: I refuse to use those mechanisms for *anything* on-line due to the utter lack of protection!
I tend to agree. They do want people to pay by bank transfer to reduce costs if people are able to.

So sorry this has probably been asked a gazillion times but would it be possible to get the refund through BEFORE you pay for the pandora again if you have to re-order?

Thank youu :)

If you didn't wait to get your refund before repaying, you're off your rocker.

Yes - the email says that.

CTfan,

Look, I can see you are really upset. We got a RAM upgrade free of charge. That should be enough. Why bother saying Paypal was FUBAR when you were a propellant supporting Paypal?

Demanding MORE from Pandora Co. is silly. If you honestly feel that Pandora Co. isn't doing enough for you, ask for a refund.

Otherwise it just seems like you are complaining for the fun of it.

Hey, this newbie has been participating in the community. He's been posting a lot over here, and he's posted even more over on forum.OpenPandora.

Therefore, like Chip said, it is a credit card transaction

[cough]your gonna be like a kid on the morning of the 21st of January, ripping of the paper to get to the ???? toy ya just knew was coming.[/cough]

anyway, im not to worried about repaying, nor was i bothered about some delays in the pandora, im happy if i get it before the end of this year, however 2009 might be pushing it for me personally (i got a good deal on a tv last year, instead of waiting till January, when i couldve got a hell of a deal),

while extra ram i great, im starting to have serious doubts about this, i think i may just take the refund and leave it at that, and wait till the second batch, the only reason i wanted the first batch was to get it before the end of this year [sigh]

i could handle either a delay, or a refund, however both in the same week is hard to digest, ontop of the worries i had before

it all worked out great, theres a month for decent apps and games to come out before i would get my hand on it, but then when i get the pandora it would be nothing literally, id be at the very very begining, and i think that could be hard to digest, might just wait till the second batch

while the extras are nice, i didnt want them nor paid for them, so saying relax its all right were getting extras (ram/nand) it doesnt make up for this current situation, i can agree that theyre trying to amend the problems by giving extras, i feel these problems should never had been caused, they where pushing it far to close to the deadline, the wifi antenna still isnt finished, and a few other components. its one thing saying the product is manufactured yet but saying it hasnt even been finished being designed is a bit worrying

anyway first post on this matter

Probably not... I'll avoid speculation in the future, but it's hard when I can't understand what's going on. Admittedly, I don't need to :D .

I am so looking forward to this machine arriving. I'll be re-ordering if needs be.

The only thing that is helping me bide the time is the cavalcade of games on the market AND coming on the market. Now I've just seen the new Prince of Persia is coming out early December.

I may need to take a week vacation so that I can play all these games. Its the end of the year for me, my department is running purely in maintenance mode, so I've been spending a good deal of my time learning Python and these boards.

More on topic, I am in NA and still have yet to receive my re-order email. Hoping for the best. Good luck fellas.

Also thanks God Ginrai!
