Problem with this poll is, we don't know what you would like to do otherwise.
I am pretty sure that if you would have asked if people preferred adding touchscreen support for Atari ST and Amiga emulation or making Virtua Racing the result of the poll would have been different.

That said, there are not so much good racing games on the gp2x and this one looks pretty good, so I voted 'of course'.

I don't know either. Surely not hacking touchscreen support, as I only have a F100 with DaveC d-pad mod, which is enough for me.

if it's possible, go for 32x support instead :p
I agree. I would prefer it if you got 5 games to work rather than 1 game

32X Support would be awesome, even if a little on the slow side, but I realize that it would require comparatively more work than SVP emulation.
I would prefer it if 32X support could be added, since as mentioned, it would add a few more games, including Virtua Racing.
Go for gold either way dude!

Can understand that, I was just giving an example. Didn't think this was something you would want to do anyway.

If I had to pick an emulator to improve it would be Vice2X/Frodo2X, but I don't know if that would be the most wanted pick. http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showt...=37662&st=0

Well at the end of the day the devs always decided themselves so, will just wait and see what comes.
Every addition to the already great GP2X softwarebase is appreciated, and if VR can be made running full speed that will be a very nice bonus.

And to be honest, I am really looking forward to some 'made by Notaz' masterpieces on the Pandora :)

Not only that I would play it, this would be one of the greatest achievements in portable emulation of all time.

Please take the time to accomplish it, Notaz.

Propeller
I think exactly the same.

this really is amazing....... especially cause there are no decent racing games on the 2x :)
awesome work.....

but since this seems to be a wish thread also.. : i'd like the Outrun system in Mame to have more speed :)

It's a "yes please" from me :)

As far as I know there is no decent 3d racing game on the gp2x, therefore getting svp to work just for one game is worth the effort. And also I'm a huge fan of virtua racing. I still own both the japanese megadrive version aswell as the 32x version of the game. Keep up the great work Notaz.

That was definitely true before GPSP came out - there are now a few decent ones on GBA (Moto-racer in particular is very good). Also, I believe Wipeout is supposed to run full speed on Psx4GP2x, but I must admit I've never got it to...

I voted no. For one thing that game wasn't that great to begin with. I played it on the Genesis and it just wasn't that fun. Make a few circles around a flat shaded track and it gets boring. Now you add in that it would be painfully slow (maybe not a killer for an RPG, but not a good trait for a racing game) and probably with no sound and it just doesn't seem worth the time and effort. This may be something best left for the Pandora which could handle this no problem.

Of course it all depends on a few things. How fast could it actually get? could it have sound? What would be worked on instead of this if anything?

Sorry to be negative but, I agree with Exophase and DaveC.. This really is a cracking feat to pull off, and you should definitely pursue it for the challenge and experience, but Virtua Racing ultimately isn't that good a game.
I'll follow this with interest, but I wonder if the effort outweighs the returns..
:)

32x will never happen on gp2x, the hardware is powerful and has 3d accelerator put these 2 things to account and know it now it will never happen even it does it will be bloody slow.

Why do people release emulators which have 3d accelerators on gp2x it's not worth it.

Virtua racing is an awesome game, don't listen to exophase and dave c saying it's not good everyone has different choice some will love it or hate it you can't just say it's no good you are putting everyone off don't write such rubbish, when the game was hugely popular, i knew loads of people liking it and still they love it.

every game looks good at it's time then gets boring after couple of years this rule goes for every single game , you can get the greatest game of all time that will get boring too.

The sound is "free" because it uses standard Genesis hardware. Conditions are good because I still have deep knowledge on how it all works. The experience gained while working on this would probably allow me to write better SH2 dynarec for 32X in the future..

FYI both 32X and SVP don't have any kind of 3D hardware, everything is done in software by some fast CPUs, the same way as 3D stuff is done in GP2X. 3D accelerator wouldn't help emulating them a tiny bit.

I think Exophase and Dave C's points are more that its a lot of work for just one game that probably wont run full speed and isnt that special.

Your rule does not work which is why we have emulators and ports and people who collect old computers and games, Im sure most people will agree with me when i say Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World are as fun today as they were many years ago
