Going From Bad To Worse....

Just out of curiosity, is 2700 mAh the highest that Ni-MH batteries go up to?
No, I have bought 2950 mAh batteries and I think that can be the highest capacity.

New advances all the time, however many high ampere-hour rated batteries are actually falsely rated that high.

I'm thinking the same way so I need to test them. I'll test them as soon as my F200 arives

Does anyone remember the problem with people reporting that their First Editions and mkI screens were cracked? Any people were just not noticing the protective film and pulling it off!
I so remember that. Practically every new post after they first came out was "I got it, but my screen is horribly scratched! Why would they even include that screen protector if it's so scratched up?"

Thats kool then- maybe in hindsight maybe this thread was a bit dramatic then, although there must be a whole lot of people got their f-200's today and the same thing is happening, and if you dont know any better (as it doesnt mention this in the manuel or anything) they must think their machine is faulty.

Just why people are around- Im experimenting trying to play movies on the movie player, ive put a couple of AVI's on my SD card but they dont seem to be showing up, I also bought across a WMV, but again no show.

Any ideas?
SAMBA, while we're on the topic, if you're putting movies on your SD card, you might want to look at the tutorial on gp2x wiki. There area a few different encoders that you can use and you can make sure they're all .avi (encoded with optimal resolution and audio for you) and reducing the file size significantly.

Also, if you haven't seen the "ultimate links" topic, have a look there. There is lots of useful info contained inside.

Thanks for all the help guys- bad news though Im afraid, I think my GP2X's screen is actually faulty.

I now run it from the rechargable batteys and from the mains power and the screen still flickers and switches itself off. Im gonna email the suppliers now and get a replacement.

Other than this though, I am still convinced tat when I get a working GP2X it will be the best thing ever!

Sounds like something is blown by the power adaptor? I am not an expert on this but maybe some kind of capacitor that is critical to the screens functionality.

I've seen the highest being 3200's, although they are rare (on ebay)

I dunno I have 3200mah Maxcell batteries...Haven't used them yet.

they aren't rare you get them from the UK. I doubt you'll find any in the US.

but even then your better of with 2500mah any day. unless you grab sanyo eneloops or ansmann batteries. I think those hold the longest charge.

Sent my F-200 back this morning, should hopefully get a replacement sent soon-

For the 5 mins I could get it working though- best 5 mins of my life!

Yo Joe! on amiga emulator makes the price of the GP2X worth it alone. :D

@Samba, Hope it works out.

I'm waiting to see what "issues" the f200 has before I buy a second GP2X, my Mk2 has been pretty good but not perfect. I expect there will be some teething troubles with early f200's and it'll take a while for the community to find solutions/workarounds.
