Status Of Psx4gp2x Work Being Done :)

More performance increase (in your site you wrote that) ? Great :)

Please, someone who makes a video of Wipeout 1 with this last release :) ?

Well, I see no improvement on Tetris Plus. It's hovering around 30 still. I might be crazy because it FEELS a little smoother, but that's not what the framerate is saying. Then again, 30 is clearly fullspeed here, so it really shouldn't go any faster, right? The loading screen runs at 90 fps... :p

Wild Arms still doesn't work. RE was about 10 fps. I want to try Tales of Destiny, which is nice 2D, but I have to rip it first.. will do later.

Hey you know what? I noticed the same thing : framerate hasn't changed very much, often even lowered, but games still smoother...

Zod!! did you put frameskip behind our backs, or am I to focused on that new GPU that I see things which aren't implemented?? :p

I noticed that games report the same framerate but are a lot smoother too. I don't think it's the Vsync being higher, since that shouldnt matter in this case. But maybe the precision of the framerate counter isnt high enough?!

For instance, I get the same framerates on the Zaurus version, but it's going a lot faster/smoother! Weird! I'll look into it.

Crash Bandicoot runs smooth with interlace 3, it is graphically perfect at interlace 0, but lags a lot hehe. For some reason on some games, the stats indicator is corrupted (fps counter, etc...) with the latest 7.19 build.

What frequency do you guys overclock to when testing games with psx4gp2x? My maximum is 240mhz and I can't get any game to run so well that you could actually call it playable.

Must be difficult to quantify improvement with so many overclocking to different levels. If everyone (say) did 240MHz + RAM tweaks, at least that would give a better view of how things are going.. still it's definitely improving :)

i use 266 mhz :) , dont know if my gp2x goes any higher... never tried.

Try viewpoint, it runs ok even om 220 mhz with interlace 1, cycle 2

hmm mabyee i should test how high my gp2x goes

edit
:D woho, cool i can overclock to 280 mhz :D

I 2nd that. Like others I can only go to 250 so when people test a game it would be nice if they said what the game was like at 240 and then whatever oc they want to use. I think this should be standard when testing any game/app/emulator.

If someone compiles a list of playable games such as Tetris Plus and Mortal Kombat Trilogy, I'll make it frontpage news on http://zodttd.com and give full credit. It'd be much appreciated. :)

I finally got around to trying your emu... wonderful job so far thank-you.

I would love a list of playable games... but it might workout better if individuals helped fill out the list. Based on a clockrate of say 250 (seems everyone can reach that, I myself can get to about 260 but you seem to jump over it to 266) and of course the settings that seem to work best with the game. I think this way you could get the list to fill quicker with more reliable information since not everyone is interested in the same genre of games.

Besides it seems unfair that one person should be responsible for creating the said list when we have a community of users that are probably more than willing to offer some payback for your wonderful work.

So... I will start with Hot Shots Golf, seems to run ok... at about 7-13 fps...

clocked at 250
ram tweaks on
interlace count of 0

PSX Clock at 100
PSX Cycle at 1

Damn, I just tried release 071907 w/FF7 and all I can say is wow... My tests were at 290mhz and ram timings on. Without sound, everything seems near fullspeed and the battles are just a little slower, but much faster than the last release. Oddly, though the fps told by the emulator doesn't seem much different than the last release, but it is definitely faster. Also, the boss battle music does play this time around when facing bosses. Another odd thing is that adding sound seems to have a bigger impact when walking around on the framerate, than adding it during a battle. Most of the time in this release, the lower the clock cycle, the better the performance (and the more annoying the sound).

However, sound seems a lot worse in this release (slower, more painful to listen to, and all around annoying). It doesn't seem to really speed up too much when adjusting the cycle upwards like the last build (it does speed up, but only a little). Also, I'm getting some newly added graphical corruption on the frames around menus (the little white bars around menus and whatnot) that looks like a bunch of vertical white bars instead of one long white horizontal line.

Good luck.
