Thanks CABBAGE, now i know Resident Evil menues has been fixed :) GG Zodttd :D
mortal kombat trilogy is now not working now it loads up then freezes the menus are extremely fast. it ran very well on the preveious releases i guess that means i am going to have to play around with the clocks and stuff.

Memory cards might work if you lower the PSX CLOCK (R + VOL DOWN) to 80 before memory cards are accessed.

Basically:
- If a game doesn't boot it's usually the default cycle / clock values I'm using.
- If a game doesn't save to a memory card or says a memory card isn't inserted, it's due to the current cycle/clocks.
- Changing the psx cycle (L + VOLUME) doesn't have much affect besides ptoentially disabling the controller, until the in-game menu (VOL MIDDLE) is pressed and the game is reloaded. Even if the controller doesn't work, it will work with that setting when reloaded.
- Changing the psx clock (R + VOLUME) affects things in real-time, and affects mostly memory card compatibility and the vsync rate.
- If you want the best performance, find the highest framerate that matches the vsync as closely as possible.

This whole tweaking issue will be resolved, I just wanted to show what's being worked on and the improvement this will give.

My test @ 290mhz w/ram timings:

I ran FF8 (bin/cue). I'll be the first to congradulate you that the FMV sequences are now full speed w/out sound at even 0 interlace! Astonishing. After the first intro, things bog down a lot and stay that way until you leave Quistis' classroom (the part where you bump into Selphie) and from that point on, it is mostly full speed w/out sound, save for when you have too many people on screen at once, in which case it slows down a little bit. For some odd reason, once you leave Balamb Garden, the game kinda freezes. I mean you can still open up the menu, or select whether you want rumble or not (by pressing start), but you are unable to move Squall on the world map. This happened on an earlier build because one underclocks the psx cpu too much, but I've tried going all the way to 200mhz on the psx cpu and it doesn't resolve the problem. Needless to say, I was unable to check framerates during battle, or see if the no menu bug in battle was still occuring.

As for sound, the first time I tried the game, I got sound everywhere except during the FMV sequences, but it sounded MUCH better than the builds released a few months ago (although still far from perfect). On every attempt to run this game since then, I cannot get sound period. The only thing that happens is that the FPS goes down...

BTW: The memory cards still don't work with this game. Also, save states seem kinda hit or miss in this build; my first save state wouldn't let me reload it. After rebooting the GP2x and trying to make a new save state somewhere else, it works fine. Odd.

To Zodttd: You are my hero!

Edit: Just saw your update on memcards, will try it out soon. Also, I find it very odd that underclocking the psx cpu has a very bad effect on performance, and that overclocking the psx cpu doesn't seem to change performance any. Also, I haven't tried any of the psx cycle changing as I don't what to keep starting from the beginning as save states are unreliable right now.

PSX CLOCK (R + VOLUME) is no longer used to affect performance, as much as compatibility, to be brief.

PSX CYCLE (R + VOLUME) has been added to do what PSX CLOCK used to do in previous builds, only this time the higher the CYCLE, the more performance. Unless you go too high, in which you may have to raise the PSX CLOCK which might have been some of peoples issues. :)

It would be useful to create a list with best PSX CPU and Cycle settings for all games, so everybody wouldn't need to fiddle with them.

Goobers: I am working on making the framerate stuff always readable when scaled.

Miika: Yes, I will create something for that. :)

This is the build the Raiden Project video is based on. It's the "breathrough release". :)

Oooooh, this is exciting. :D

Can't wait to see how it performs. Awesome work for sure!

A bit confused, could you give us your wipeout settings and some other example?

Also, could adjustments be larger, like int or single decimal?

Thanks again.

Just tried out Final Fantasy IX. At 290mhz and ram timings and everything else default (except 0 interlace), I have the intro movie at full speed without sound. Like FF8, enabling sound during the fmvs does nothing except lower the framerate. Once Zidane is able to walk, it is horribly slow with sound on, and it sounds terrible. The game freezes the gp2x when you are about to start the first battle.

BTW: Zoddtd, can you make the next build so that when you disable sound, it cuts out any noise going to the speakers? Otherwise, if you have sound on while there is sound going and you enter the menu, it just holds on that sound indefinitely and it is very annoying to try and test is from that point on (without sound).

Edit: the freeze might just have been my batteries dying, I'll retry later.

try it without sound first then put sound on ? Or when you are goin to put sound of get to a bit where there is no sound ?

Castlevania was being very weird and seemd to work with good graphics sometimes randomly but now it seems to work with perfect graphics bust still slow with the clock at 80% If you dont have the clock at 80% the graphics can go really bad or sometimes just a littel bad but the weirdest thing is it will have japanese writing instead of english  im uploading a video nwo to show it.

EDIT: Heres that video ------>HERE
