Less Than 10 000 Gp2x ?

Heh, know what?
Part of the very first FE-Batch was REALLY accidentally thrown into the water (well... it was FedEx... we all know that Tom Hanks film Cast Away... don't we?)
Aaand: Part of the first MK2 batch burnt to ashes in that fire last year at Istanbul airport...

This was NOT told me by any GPH member (ex or non-ex), and it's actually true...
Haha, I love those sort of trivia facts. :D

Oh... and could you tell me the name of the ex-employee? 'cause I do know most of the employees... and for sure the ones being in a higher position.

It is a joke ;)

"He left because he calculated that GPH will go bankrupt in 618 days 17 hours."

618 days 17 hours? Who would say something so specific? One may say 620 days, or 1 year and a half, or next year. He may as well have said they would go bust in 618 days, 17 hours, 15 minutes and 12 seconds :p

And hopefully the MK3 if there is one (not a whole new design) will have a d-pad or a decent stick as a revision ;)

I know you guys did your best, to do everything what lacked at Game Park. But you have to think that GPH is just waiting that... They won't do something you'll do for free.

Curious about this "new" number, some people started on our forum a thread to count the serial numbers.

Here are the first results :

http://www.yaronet.com/posts.php?sl=424&s=95148

I may be wrong but nothing indicates me that many more GP2X have been sold...
"SERIAL" NUMBERS ARE NOT SEQUENTIAL.

It has been proven over and over that each batch from the factory gets different "serial" numbers.

The true serial number is in a small chip on the i2c bus, you can't see it without a special program.

In other words, suppose I have a unit from batch 3 and batch 4, they have the SAME serial #'s. OR someone has a MK1 with the number 0000567, someone with a MK2 has the same serial number. I don't know what specious reasoning comes into play in your link, but we have more serials than that in our "serials" thread, and they bear me out.

Ok thanks for the info, do you have a link to this thread ?

Oh, GPH would definately tell such specific times and dates, but they won't happen then.... ;)
No date GPH ever told us really happened... it happened months later...

I'm getting psyched about the MK3 again. It'll be something to tide me over when i'm at uni in a few years :p

Way off topic, but...

The general idea of Uni is to spend your time out drinking beer and attempting to shag girls. gp2x vs gp3x shouldn't have a particularly large impact on your primary aim :D

Yes, but you will have to read a couple large threads.

German distributor:
http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?act=S...41&t=22866#

UK distributor clears up serials being identical:
http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showt...2866&st=30#

The MASTER wonders about his serial numbers on his 3 GP2X's.
http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showtopic=35090#

Note how each one has a date of production? See that his unit made in 11 (November) 2006 has a higher number than the unit made in 12 (December) 2006? Also not each batch has 8,000 made, only the nubmers that match with the algorithim for DRM checking ;).

So there you go. Either way the console was a flipping success and you can get them on ebay all the time even if GPH does go under (which I doubt), I have bought 1 on ebay and sold 2.

Maybe but I don't believe that guy had anymore real information than my uncle's dog has ;)

The whole post sounds dodgy to me. Anyone can come here and say anything, and I think that was one of those cases.

@ everyone, an idea to help promote the GP2X more is to put a reference to this site or the GP2X in your sig if you post in other forums gaming related or not. Nothing big and annoying just a little line of text. If nothing else it will get some curious and who knows, it may help.

I'm the moderator of a gaming group with over 12,000 members and that sounds like a neat idea DaveC, I might go ahead and try that.

I had some people interested before, but I guess I didn't push the product hard enough ;)

I tried to get Racketboy, which is a retro/emulation blog, to write about it, but I never heard anything from him and no post was made. I can't understand why--it's 100% appropriate for the site... Maybe I'll try again.

Maybe they are PSP/DS fanboix and don't want anything but a Sony or Nintendo related handheld to be written about. Just a guess.
