It is SWEET!. iMac Home

Bye bye Microcack, and clunky PCs - nice knowing ya... NOT! :p

Very nice!
I've never used a Mac, but I hear they're quite good :)

"quite" good?

hehe once you buy one, you will *never ever* look back, or miss your beloved PC...

Seriously - if you have never tried a Mac, and want to spend more time working *with* your computer, than working *on* your computer/fixing incompatibilities and errors, then try one out at an Apple store. :)

what do you think?
that you had to much money :)

Too much money?. Too much sense! :). Total cost of ownership is much lower than old PC.

Let's watch an Apple Mac Ad (Quicktime required!)

I have a Mac too, a MiniMac. Works like a charm, but I use a lot of programs which don't run on a Mac.. But Mac is way better then a PC. That's one thing for sure ;)

Indeed - elegance, intelligence efficiency and minimalist style. I have found it **SUCH** a relief, to finally own a computer that is uncomplicated and that actually does what I ask it to do, and doesn't complain or sulk. Much respect to Apple Inc. Microsoft, stop trying to play catchup - just resign to fate.

I mean, to design your own hardware platform, tightly controlled and maintained, and then create your own software platform, that works hand-in-glove as a perfect flawless fit for that same hardware... like everything Apple, it is sheer simplicity!. Kind of makes you wonder why noone else thought of such a simple and effective strategy.

Bahh humbug "Vista" - the outlook is not so bright after all!

Oh - and were I crazy enough to want to do so, I could have a PC *inside* MAC OS X"

There's no denying it, most Apple hardware looks spectacular. However, I prefer Windows to Mac OS X, perhaps because I am very used to the former as opposed to the latter. OS X feels more clumsy and overly-shiny for my taste, and the fact that everything has to be a big shiny icon makes me feel like I'm not as much in control of what goes on there as I am when I run Windows.

If I'd be a rich peasant, I'd buy a Macbook and slap XP on it :)

Sorry, known far too many mac fanboys in my life to ever own a piece of Apple hardware.

And come on... your name is 'linuxlover'... haven't you tried Beryl? You can get Linux to look just as nice (better, in my opinion) than OSX, and Beryl does all the Expose stuff.

I had to buy a mouse and a keyboard for my Mac... 150 EURO'S?!? Ofcouse they where both bleutooth and the mouse had a laser instead of optical shit ;)

That equates to buying a Daimler, removing the engine and putting in a lawnmower engine to take its place...

I have installed more distros than there are blades of grains of sand on Blackpool beach - disillusionment is the key word with Linux, unfortunately. Before I am accused of being stupid etc etc - save your time guys - I simply want my computer to work, work *well* and reliably, without being the "You stupid user you know nothing" kind of simple, as is the case sometimes.

Don't judge me by my membername - it was the case that I loved Linux... until I finally woke up, and realised that at the *moment*, Linux is just an overly idealistic solution, but the glossy face hides all the deep and dirty command line cr*p, that quite honestly *noone* wants to get into, if they just have a computer so they can use it to create things.

I am well aware that Mac OS X is Unix (BSD) based, but the big difference is, that Apple specify Apple hardware, and they don't have to go through all the reverse-engineering that is the case with Linux - the software and hardware are fine tuned and built from the ground up, to be completely smooth and seamless.

There is an extremely fine line between saving money and building your own - getting so incredibly disillusioned with Linux because of all the grief and tweaking, and actually being realistic, facing facts and plucking for the very best solution - Mac - because they really **DO** "just work", and the Mac does *what* it is told to, *when* it is told to!.

As for beryl and its Expose clone - yes Expose is a very beautiful technology, but seeing as Linux are all about innovation, it seems to me that this is just another example of innovation copying, by the masses. Linux is fantastic for a lot of applications, but until people get fed up enough to realise that it is *NOT* ready for the home user yet, in *any* form, Linux will continue to disillusion the idealistic ones, and cause frustration time after time.

Please don't get het up folks - I am not slating Linux, but what I am saying is that from a geek point of view it is heaven, but for those of us who have realised that life is a little too short for fiddling for a day *just* to get a graphics card working, it is completely rubbish!. All these rough edges will eventually be cleaned up I hope, but for the moment, I cannot waste any more time fiddling and kludging reverse-engineered solutions together, as a quick fix.

Give me a break - give me a Mac, and I can regain my life back once more - *that* is why I spent £927 on iMac - you *cannot* get any better, because the other available solutions are either stuck in NASA labs, or are PCs... UGHHH!!!

Oh and for those of you who want to know - yes, I am a Mac fanboy, and having seen the light, I am sure there are a GREAT deal more of us about!. Instead of slagging fanboys off, how about thinking rationally and logically for a moment, and asking yourselves why Mac has *such* a stalwart and loyal following.... it really is a no-brainer, but that doesn't mean we *have* no brains... far from it, the reverse is true.
