John Carmack And Capcom Email Address?

babbagesmachine was last active July 9th, I think that he can be considered too busy to port it. DJWillis' work would only be useful if someone wanted to continue work on it.

I find it hilarious that the first 2 posts critisize my spelling, lol!

What sort of mentality is that? Adds absolutely no value to this thread and is just spam tbh.

My initial idea was written down quickly just before i went to work...really makes me think what kind of people we have here...

Somethingawful.com's forums = that kind of atrocious spelling means ban... Also it costs $10 to register =)

Which is the reason I admire their forums.

When I have 10 dollars in my PayPal, and nothing to spend it on, I will definately get a membership.

When the spelling is as horrid as this was:

am sure capcom wud b interested and john wud if only for quick mess around...

...we had good reason to fear you would contact them and embarrass our community.

If you haven't the time to post, don't. Do not bother humiliating yourself by posting like a child.

Please don't spam the big devs. You know that there isn't a chance in hell that they are going to spend time on a system with a few thousand units out.

When there are 5 million GP2Xs out there then you can START to think about spamming big developers ;)

You would be better off e-mailing devs of PPC and Palm OS games, they may consider it.

Well, we're interested in some of the older games those developers had, though. I wouldn't ask them to develop for the GP2X. Simple commercial ports of their past work wouldn't take much time or effort. And if I remember correctly, the GP2X has DRM hardware built-in to protect their interests from pirating, right?

Hehe, only on the internet...I guess this world really does have all sorts.

Ideas come first, the execution comes later. Refinement, later still.

It doesn't matter if the idea is just a few words or a messy scribble on a scrap piece of paper...

I'm not even going to bother editing my post. Have a look at every thread and you'll see errors.

Ban if you want, I cant be bothered with this fickle mentality.

We are not talking about spamming as in "Penis enlargement pills" mass mailing :D What am hoping for is a customized email for each one of these big developers, even if they ignored us, imagine them meeting in an event, and when one of them starts stretching his muscles about the unknown handheld from Korea that played all their oldies, and the shock he will get when he find others know about it too, they might reconsider porting some of their old games to it at that moment only :)

I know something like this might be almost impossible to happen, but at least we can give it a try.

stormyandcold:

Why don't you spare yourself the flames? What's so great about insisting on being wrong? this community is mostly made of 22+ years old guys who work in real companies and who hate troll slang, we all know it's not fatal typing like you did, but it annoys most of the members here.

I like your idea, so don't waste it with arguments on such a thing that can be fixed with an easy spelling check, ok dude ;)

Well, you can give it a try but I wouldn't even expect a reply to be honest!

I contacted John Romero (he signed my 'Masters of Doom' book a year or so back!) about porting 'Congo Cube' and 'Hyper Space Delivery Boy' (Both cool Pocket PC titles), I offered to port it for him in the event that he was too busy, but the reply was 'I am too busy, I will get around to it in the future', but something tells me he's too busy with this MMORPG he's working on...

Goes without saying Shikaku.

Professionalism isn't a problem. In the end its just to spread the word regardless of whether it's fruitless.

Word of mouth is very powerful, thats how I got into the GP2X in the first place.

Capcom love doing quick ports of Resident Evil games although I'm more interested in their Street Fighter franchise, specifically SF Alpha 3.

Hey, even if someone bought it up at a meeting and it was dismissed in seconds, maybe, just maybe some guy with the skills might just be curious enough to get a GP2X and just maybe (again) they'd tinker with it and re-evaluate it's potential.

Would actual products come out of all this? Probably not.

Would they at least consider it? Most definately!

Everyone knows people like JC are busy but even he's recently had time to do a few mobile games. Sure, the market for mobile games is massive and budgets relatively big for such a small community of users.

(JC mentioned a budget of $500,000 just for Orcs and Goblins)

I'm no mathematician but even I know that at 1/2 a million per game that even if every user (10000+?) bought a copy at $20-$25 it'd still be a loss! Bear in-mind though, thats for a completely new game.

Ports would cost much less as all content is available. 1-2 guys for a few months working on a single project wouldn't cost nearly that much.

Plus, the beauty with our medium (SD) is that a limited number of copies could be made specifically catered for demand which would further cut costs and minimalise any losses.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

p.s. we ofcourse also have a lot of devs here already...I'm sure our guys here wouldn't mind helping these companies through problems. (you guys wouldn't mind, would you?)
