Yes but I'm not sure it's an analog nub.

For controls you have 4 main A-B-X-Y buttons, start, select, two shoulder buttons and a well designed analogue stick, which despite being raised, is low enough to retain good movement whilst not sticking out far enough to get snagged on anything during transport.

It's digital! (and it sticks out quite a bit :p)

Although it's digital most non-GP2X people would call it an analogue stick as it's not a d-pad. If I change it to "digital stick" it will mean less to people. How about "digital analogue stick" or "analogue stick (that is actually digital)".

Some games have also been ported to the GP2X but I was unable to get them working and was presented by a blank screen, maybe they are not supported by the latest firmware.
n00b :p
If anyone can shed any light on that situation I'd be happy to update the review. All I did was copy the files to the SD card and tried running every exe on there. They included Quake and Duke Nukem. Only Super Methane Bros worked but that was the one I least wanted to work.

One of the problems in reviewing the GP2X is that you could use it for 6 months and still barely cover 20% of what it can do. I hope people bare that in mind when reading. :D

you need files from the original PC game to get the GP2X version working
That would be too easy, you don't have a PSP, hee? :p

*edit* Readme files are made to be read ;) and they are generally well made

Don't include the word analogue at all as it isn't analogue. Analogue has nothing to do with the shape of the input device and by describing it as analogue you will confuse many people if they buy the gp2x based on your review. I don't understand what's wrong with digital stick? If people understand what a digital pad is why would they be confused by the word stick? I know that console users can often be morons, but I'm sure we can credit them with having at least a little intelligence.

With Quake and Duke I'm assuming you just installed the executables and didn't copy the necessary data files from your original cds.

Correct - I did not copy the original files and if there was a readme I probably overlooked it during all the excitement. There was literally so much on the disk I copied the whole lot and tried to play it. I'll sort that part of the review out to say that you need to the original games to make them work.

Re: analogue stick. Someone replied on the digg describing it as an "8 way digital joystick" which is easy enough to understand, so I'll change it to that.

It should also be pointed out that you don't necessarily need to own the games for the ports to work.. ie you can often use the data files from the shareware versions.

... but still inaccurate. It's actually 16-way.

Good review, though.

Does that mean the fabled GP2X Wiki is incorrect?

Really good review with only one real fault. 9+9+8+10 is an average of 9, not 9.4.
