I cant turn on my gp2x without the power cable when i first purchased it off ebay AA Alkaline batteries where running fine and after a month for some reason i put in my batteries and the gp2x doesnt even turn on i tried NiHM 1.2V 2500 MAH Energizer batteries recharged and it still didnt come up..i even tried putting the batteries in other electronic products and it works fine seriously what can i do to fix this problem....

Yeh i can use a AC adapter fine i can turn it on and off the only things that dont work is the AA batteries the gp2x works fine its just for some reason it doesnt play AA batteries...

it is possible that a unregulated ac adapter frys the battery voltage converter.
But its also possible that theres just a pin bended in the dc plug, try plugging it in/out a few times.

it is possible that my ac or dc adapter might of fried the battery voltage but ive realised when i put in my batteries theyre loose if i put it in the proper way it doesnt actually fit properly like i can turn my gp2x with the batteries and they will all fall out theyre the right size batteries aswell AA but then if i flip the battteries the opposite way it fits in but it still doesnt work i think something may of moved or those little metal things on the sides may be pushed in too much thats y it isnt fitting properly....if it was is there like a way i could send it into the company to get it fixed ?

I've heard other people say they dropped their GP2X and those prongs got bent. They just bent them outwards a little (back to normal position) and it worked again.

But also check that the AC you were using is regulated, centre negative, and the correct voltage (3-3.3v). Using anything else has been known to fry the battery regulator (or whatever it's called).

ok thanks ill try that my power adapter is a GP2X one 3.3V and the powerplug i use says 25A250V... thank for the help guys ill try bending them out

I drop my GP2X sometimes and the pins get bent back (scares the bejesus out of me every time).
I've put some card behind each pin to prevent it happening, gives a tighter fit to my 2000mAh batteries, too

Hi! I had this problem too, the ac adapter I had was supplied by the uk distributer but was a multi ac adapter thingy (different ends). Anyway I after the first successful run on ac adapter power batteries would no longer work! no matter what i tried i couldn't get the batteries to turn on the unit! but ac power worked fine.

The solution - plug in the ac adapter turn on gp2x load up turn off turn off ac turn on ac turn on... cycle the power on off for the unit. Then retry the batteries, this actually fixed the problem for me. Ive heard three other people with the same weird problem, and with leaving there gp2x on long periods of time on mains ac, seemed to be a small hardware problem.

Hoping that this is the problem you have since its peasy to resolve! but it mite not be

My GP2X is also no longer working with batteries :(
I`ve not used mine with an ac adapter for months,it just stopped working today!
I just this minute tried it with the adapter and it works fine,strange..

I`ll try out your solution ^RaZ,hope it works(fingers crossed)
