Mame GP2x 1.7

Go grab it soldiers ! GO ! GO ! GO! (sorry , been playing BF2 a lot lately)

23-02-2006:

New MAME GP2X 1.7:

- TV-Out support. Thanks, Kounch, for the information.
- New option to configure video synchronization: Disabled, Double Buffer and VSync.
- Support for more GP2X Clock speeds: 133-300 MHz (without flickering).
- Volume control corrected.
- Some improvements in the frontend.
- Improvements in DrZ80 core: Flubba optimizations have been re-added over Reesy latest core. Also some fixes have been added.

Okay, so I have a stupid question. What do you use the other executables for? Do they make certain games run better?

Been using this for a while but only have really used the default file.

the alternate sound routine one seems to run faster but is not compatible with every game. the "compat" one offers the best compatibility but is slower.

Try this:

Play King of Boxer using the default .gpe ... listen to the sound, then exit out, and run the drz80 .gpe, and play King of Boxer agian ... the sound/music is clearer with no (noticeable) distortion.

Is it just me or is mame gp2x a bit flaky under cramfs firmware ?

I never had a problem under the normal 1.4 firmware.

Franxis does your code sometimes try to write to the nand :(, hence the unpredictability of this with cramfs. If so any chance of addressing this ;) .

Tony

Thanks for the responses. I did try z80 once in hopes it would run street fighter 2 faster with sound on, but I didn't notice much of a difference.

what happened to the original thread of this by Franxis?

glad i have the complete set, time for fun!!!!

I tried Pac-man, MrDO! and Ms Pacman with the new DrZ80. Still bugged. Now Ms.Pacman doesn't work and it used to. MrDo! still has glitchy graphics only they are different. These games run fine with the C core so no big loss. I just was curious to see if they worked with the new version.

Which games have you found that are fixed with the new DrZ80 core?

My batteries love this new version. Thanks Franxis :)

Has anyone managed to get Rainbow Islands to work in this (or any other) version of Mame GP2X? It loads, but there's no sound or enemies so it's not really playable :(

(I know I could play the Atari ST version, or one of the console versions, but I like the arcade version better.)

Thanks.

Matt

You know, there's is a compilation called Taito Legends that's available for X-Box, PS2 and PC that includes the arcade versions of several Taito games including Bubble Bobble, The New Zealand Story, and, yes, Rainbow Island. Emulation seems perfect from my point of view on my X-Box.

Stuff works fine here, so it must be just you. Maybe you're putting them in the wrong place?

Yes but we want perfect emulation of taito arcade games on the GP2X

@Watto

No, i can't confirm your problems with cramfs. Everything works fine for me.

Jungle Hunt now works flawlessly with the DrZ80 core.

Well done, Franxis !

Awesome! Jungle Hunt is one of my fave games of all time! I just love the simplicity of the gameplay and the awesome music!

Thanks Franxis!

Any plans to port a newer version of MAME with more drivers in the near future? Especially those for 68k-based shooters, like Cave's Dodonpachi, ESP.Ra.De, Dangun Feveron, Guwange ..? Granted, you'd probably need to rotate the screen to run them .. but it'd be a bit of a dream for me. :)
