GP32 Scummvm

Does anyone have the gp source for scummvm? i want to see what i can do
It is in the ScummVM Source Tar @ www.scummvm.org. It's under 'backends\GP32' with its own build.rules and readme done by Ph0x.

Just download it, hack it about a bit and voila a GP32 version of ScummVM :D.
As it stands the backend needs work to support non Scumm games (Simon and Sky).

With SDL ports working better and better on the GP32 then you may want to consider porting it to a SDL/GP32 hybrid to get the benefit of easier maintenance. There are a few SDL features that the GP32 port does not have but you can work around them. Enhancing the GP32 ScummVM backend to work with GP32 SDL and support Sky and Simon (and even OGG if I can squeeze the CPU cycles) is something I am playing with in my spare time but don't hold your breath (I am a crap coder ;)).

i will update the source in the weekend.
so hold your horses until then. the source
will remain with its sdl wrapper work-around
but afterwards anyone who feels like it can
rewrite it to make it full sdl port instead gp32
hack port.

regards,
ph0x

Excellent news, exactly what will a full sdl port do? I mean what advantages will it give us?

could you make monster.so3 files compatible or not? If it does then you will be able to run the games with full speech!

I thought the only reason they don't is a space/SMC capacity issue?

.SO3 files are MP3 encoded versions of the original LucasArts .SOU voice files (Loads of VOC samples in a container file).

There a good bit smaller then the originals and a full talkie (or 2) will fit on the SMC with ease however there is no MP3 support in the gpScummVM port and it would not be that easy IMHO to do as you don't have a huge amount of spare CPU cycles left after the VM is running.

The same thing applies for .SOG files (OGG Vorbis encoded) however there is more chance of getting them working at some point as the OGG Codec is fairly well optimised (Well better then MAD anyway).

If OGG or MP3 support was added at some point then I suspect encoded and compressed CD-Audio tracks (Like those in Loom or Monkey Island) would also play.

Is there a compatibility list for GP32 ?! I can't access ph0x'S site :(
It's the same as ScummVM 0.3 without Simon 1+2 support.

i.e. LucasArts games that you can fit on the SMC.

It's Been A while since I checked. Is there and news on this yet i'm dieing for a newer version. and what's happened to the site?
Ph0x's site is down since the server failed. I don't think his site been restored.

My version is taking time (and to be honest, it's a background thing).

I have various versions out with testers at the moment and a lot depends on there feedback and my available time to fix things. I hope it will be worth the wait but as my code stands currently I have a little way to go to make it good enough to release (even as beta).

Simon and BASS support are really taking time as is the MP3/OGG stuff.

A updated version of scumm would be great :p Under a steel sky in the metro, Sam and Max in the train playing the other games will sound in the garden :p
