Fast Gp32

OK if you get a fast gp32 like the 180 or the 166 which can be over clock and the other handhelds on the markit what would be the problem of emulating the gba or even the ds as the procssor * gba is 6mks and the ds is only mhz BUT please correct me on this) speeds are not so high as the gp32 is it down to the power alone or do you have to take other things into account like storage space on the smc if this correct can ther ever be a cart were you can plug in a bigger storage like a sd card and use an adator so the sd card will fit into the gp32 what problem can we face.

I have had a look at the 180 mkz gp32 on ebay.cp.uk what it worth then? how much should i pay to be the fastest

I can pretty much promise you it will NEVER emulate a DS

lack of 2 screens being the smallest of the many prblems there

higher MHZ mostly means fast SNES Emulation
 
for a start it is megahertz. the number of times at which a elctrical current passes through it in 1 second or something like that. also to emulate things takes more power. for exaple a 1 mhz processor could take 10 mhz to emulate. Also the gp32 does not have any graphical hardware or things like that. they to have to be emulated. Also emulators take a great deal of time to be coded and they can have combatibility problems.

so the best emualtor on the gp32 scen is the snes and you don`t think there will be a gba or as daft as it sounds n64 emualtor as we were always told that the n64 would not be able to be emulated on the pc but it can be done now so may bewhith better coding the better emualtors we will get

Think of the DS as almost a Nintedno 64 but portable. As anyone on the forum will tell you emulating an N64 cannot happen, at least not at playable speeds, so it would be like the PS emulator that LDChen has developed(which i still see as impressive). The DS also has hardware accelaration not available on the N64 like cell shading. There is no way the DS could be emulated because of its lack of two screens(we're missing the needed touchscreen).

As for the fastest Gp32, some people can get up to 256 Mhz so 180Mhz is good but not the best. There is no way to know if your Gp32 will get that high, for example mine can goto 256 on the clockspeed tester but with Dr MD it doesnt quite reach that speed.

Now if I remember properly the two processors on the DS are an Arm9 clocked at 80 Mhz and an Arm7 clocked at 40Mhz, so there is a total of 120 Mhz to be emulated with a max of twice that speed on a Gp32. Such a thing cannot work at full speed. For example, the GBA can emulate the SNES slowly and it has about twice the processor power of it.(cant remember if the Snes has 6Mhz or 8Mhz).

Nah, DS is not a portable N64 at all. It's less that third a n64 resolution, textures are not filtered. Mario 64 DS graphic engine is surely a total rewrite of the N64 one.
BTW cell shading does not need any special 3D hardware, it's only specific to the 3d engine. Any old hardware can do that.

166 is enough for anything nowadays really. The slower emulators really need 200+ to make them fully workable. Genesis is fine at lower than 166 on most games, as is MAME, and as a 180Mhz owner that's not enough for full running on the SNES emulators on many games.

i hate that people that say "my gp32 runs stable at 200Mhz", have you tried it in a real enviroment ??? or just clockspeed stester :huh:

my gp32 runs stable at 200 mhz! :p I totally played chronotrigger for 6 hours straight at 200 mhz...! :D

No i am not that much of a geek. I just pretend i am. I am hopeless. But i somehow can alwasy fix a broken pc (twiddling the PCI cards always works). Also i am now brain damaged and i was thinking of a circuit there. Blame the facts i have been doings electricity in science.
