telcolou, i expected better.

thats not a port, its a doom pwad, it in no way demonstrates that hl could be ported. its like me creating a video file of halo 2 and running it on gpcinema, thus showing that it had been "ported" and thus give linkin the evidence that it could be ported.

Why hasn't he been suspended or something?

Why? The first halflife is playable on my p1 150 mhz computer with 1 meg of video memory and 64 megs of ram. Why cant it be modified to play on the gp32?
Comeon, my other pc (1.5ghz, 512mb ram geforce 2mx 64mb) had problems with counter strike occaisionly. This machine; 120mhz, 32mb ram cant fun half life at all, infact i can barely handle dungeon keeper one with out slowdown!

OMFG ITS LINKIN and w.e u guys just like to flame one another. And I dont know why u had problems playing cs on that computer 1.5 ghz is MORE then enough to play counter strike.

Edit: The only argument you guys can make is file size. In that case then i would think that the files would have to be compressed. But I dont think compression would be enough to bring it down to 128 megs. Thats the big bummer about the gp32. FILE SIZE.

INFACT here are the sys Req
Intel Pentium® 233 or AMD K6® -2
Windows© 95/98/NT/2000/ME
32 MB RAM
600 MB HD Space
SVGA, high-color (16-bit)
Win-compatible Soundcard
2x CD ROM Drive
32-bit Internet service provider with 28.8+ modem or LAN

And it says it right Here ON the OFFICIAL site. Tell me it cant be ported. Those sys req are preaty damn low. <_<

Serious reply:

1) NO SOURCE CODE
2) You just defeated yourself by posting the system requirements:
a) Intel Pentium® 233 or AMD K6® -2 (The GP32's cpu would have to OC to at LEAST 233mhz ... mine craps out @176 .. others even less)
B) 32 MB RAM (the GP32 has only 8MB RAM ... unless you get a RAM mod/upgrade, but it's costly and requires great soldering skill)
c) 600 MB HD Space (128MB SMCs ... that's all we've got ... how much did you plan on 'leaving' out, even if one could trim all the 'unnecassary' gfx??)

Ergo, no.

The original Half Life was great but it couldn't keep the momentum up during the later stages of the game. That whole alien thing was just a let-down after the genius of the lab/special forces sections.

It's wierd you allways see people posting X will own Y when it comes out, then when X comes out it will be owned by Z and so on. Its a vicious cycle :D

Very true, I haven't played HL2 for more than an hour or so (I don't have much free time for games anymore, hence the 2.30 AM posting time ;) , hmmm, I think I'll play a little bit now).

Anyway, Half Life 1 really did lose it towards the end, at the time it took me a week to get 70% through and about 6 months to bother with the end bit. I hope HL2 isn't such a chore like that.
