well they say that the speed of light is sort of the speed limit of everything
nothing can go faster than it

but what is something did
what would they see
complete blackness or old light
if it were old light then you would get the illusion that you are going back in time
i think that is resonable

i don't think it's possible to time travel like you age slower than others or whatever you were trying to say

vote=no
Any thing over the speed of light and the mas becomes infinite.

Nothing like the good ol' logical theory of relativity

Here's one for you. Have you ever fallen asleep, spent hours or even days in a dream world and then woken up to find only 10 minutes or so has gone by?

Figure that one out.

Dreams dont happen, they re mearly small split second thoughts that appear to be realtime but infact are not. Your head doesnt have a built in clock, therefore a dream could seem like a eternity because your dreams are telling your brain how long they are lasting

and if time travel was possible we would know because they wouldve told us when they travelled back

some theorist believe that timetravellers have strict rules not to interact with stuff, but surely in the next billion years someone devious wouldve got hold of the device and messsed up time.

There is no way to travel into the future because each mind is individual and not linked to everyone elses. So even if one persons fate was roughly programmed into them there would surely still be chance encounters between people which could lead to romance etc.

so to conclude, it is a physically impossible.

Light in itself doesnt exist, it is merely is. It has no weight. So to travel faster than it owuld be impossible, and to travel at the same speed would need similar properties. But to have similar properties to light you must not exist physically. And if youdont exist you cannot travel the speed of light

If what you call 'time travel' was possible, most likely you'd actually just be traveling to another dimension that resembles he past or future. What's messed up, is that you could only affect the timeline of that dimension, then see the results, which would be how your world would've been had its timeline gone through the same changes.

And yes, if real 'time travel' was possible, it would've already happened, maybe. Unless it's the 'time gate' theory in which you have to open up a hole in time/space, in which you can only jump to any point in time in which that hole was open.

Yeah, OK now. Time for some more LSD and weed.

John Titor was right, you know.

(may he R.I.P. ... even thought he's only ~9 years old in this timeline ... )

I doubt it.

Did anyone see that guy who claimed he was from the future, he pu loads of info on forums including designs of his time travelling machine then he vanished... Supposedly WWIII starts 2008.

Hmmm looks like i'm being drafted a year after i graduate.:p

On to the point i don't belive you can travel in time period. Because if you went back in time to change something. You would have never traveled in time because what you changed would have been changed and if it was changed you would never have needed to travel. So it's like this.

A----B----C

right now we are at C and we want to change B but need to go to A to make it change. so we spend our time at C solely building a time machine and we make it. So we go Back.

A

now there is A we are there. we change what we needed to so B is change to D (D is what you wanted to end up with, so you succeeded... maybe).

A---D

B has been changed to D but to have changed B to D you need C to have to of made the time machine but couldn't have made the time machine because you changed the future so you never made the time machine, so you could never have gone back in time and be able to go back to change whatever you wanted to change. So i'm not saying you can't travel back in time, you can maybe travel back in time but you can't change anything because anything you do will lead you to what made you want to change in the first place (kinda like manority report, even though he tried not killing the guy by doing certain events thinking thoughs events would allow him not to kill the guy. But still, thoughs events are what led up to and made him kill the guy in the first place). so you end up in a loop. you go back and proceed forward then go back then proceed forward then go back then forward over and over. And you cannot travel into the future because it has never happened and even if you could see you're future you could never change it because all the events you would try to make to cahnge whatever, will lead up to whatever you didn't want to happen. again sorta like the traveling back in time. I'm not saying you can't do it but that it is highly improbable to, Change Anything, and get away with it.

so my
Vote=See it to belive it. :D

P.S. Seth it's deja vu, two words not one it means "already seen". But yeah i get it all the time and i hate it too. very annoying and very distracting.

Anything with mass to begin with will reach infinite mass as it approaches the speed of light. Light photons have no mass so they do not have this limitation. Some subatomic particles, quarks I think, have exceded the speed of light in particle accelerators aftyer colliding with other particles.
Close. They're called tachyons, and they really only exist to fill a gap in particle science. As well as being capable of travelling freely around time, the'y're supposedly undertectable because of this. Maybe they have negative mass?

BTW... antimatter *doesn't* have negative mass... just negative electrical charge...

I was quite disappointed to discover this :(

I think that if you did travel back in time you wouldn't be able to change anything because everything you did would already have happened.

Like in the Terminator where John Connor already existed in the future even though his father hadn't gone back in time yet, if you see what I mean...

Traveling at the speed of light would be stupid... I thik by the time you even get less than 1/4 of the way your would have already crashed into something :p

I have thought about this too and that is why I don't see anyone going back in time. but maybe the future.

Its called a Temporal Paradox. You can only go forward.

Anything with mass to begin with will reach infinite mass as it approaches the speed of light.  Light photons have no mass so they do not have this limitation.  Some subatomic particles, quarks I think, have exceded the speed of light in particle accelerators aftyer colliding with other particles.

Sounds like star trek and their tahyeon fields.

BOOM!

I think that if you did travel back in time you wouldn't be able to change anything because everything you did would already have happened.

Like in the Terminator where John Connor already existed in the future even though his father hadn't gone back in time yet, if you see what I mean...
It has already happened so as long as John Connor realises he has to send Kyle Reese back then he will still be born. That is the first time i have seen anyone go back without causing a paradox. You know why? I'll tell you. The Time Displacement Device can only send you back. So he had no intention of going to the future again meaning avoiding a paradox.

So lets sum it up. To go BACK in time you have go on a oneway trip unless you have some sort of field that rather than taking you into the new future makes the new future around you then you get a paradox. To go forward you can go and back. Therefore YOU CANNOT EASILY GO BACK TO THE FUTURE.

Great Scot!
