GPD WIN MAX ANNOUNCED

Geez, that OneXPlayer has over four times the pixels of a Switch or Pyra. I wonder if that was really necessary. Especially going 16:10 instead of 16:9; does it think it's a tablet or what?

I think the screen resolution is too much.
1080p and 16:9 would have been the better choice.
Especially as batter life and performance matters.

I'm very tempted to buy one and decide whether to keep the ONEXPLAYER or the GPD win 3.
Win 3 is a little too small I fear but ONEXPLAYER might be too big.

Just go with the GPD Win Max.
In my opinion, it's just the better System, since you get a full keyboard, Game Controls and a reasonable resolution for good performance.
It's a real laptop with game controls.

There is one killer argument in favor of the WIN 3.
It fit in here: https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/pre-gamescom-reveal-a-vision-became-reality.99165/

Win MAX would need a complete new design.
ONEXPLAYER is too big as well.

That said, I have already bought a second suitcase and foam to make a GPD (or whatever) + eGPU build.
I don't own an eGPU yet, and I don't know if I'll ever get one but it's something I consider.
Buying a lighter notebook and make the GPD my powerful gaming device.
For now I have a gaming notebook + Switch.
When my Notebook becomes too old, we'll see.

cool build and definitely an argument for a smaller form factor :)

Interesting, it seems the compared low price of the upcoming Steam Deck has an impact onto the price of the new Win Max models as well:

GPD Win Max 2021 handheld gaming laptop now available for preorder with surprising Intel Core i7-1195G7 upgrade and lower price
Initially supposed to launch with i7-1165G7 and i7-1185G7 processor options, the GPD Win Max 2021 handheld gaming laptop is now up for pre-order only with a surprising i7-1195G7 upgrade that is offered for the same price as the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U variant. Preordering now can further lower the price to only $999.

GPD Win Max 2 Announced:

Comes in two tastes: with Intel Core i7-1280P or with AMD Ryzen 7 6800U. The AMD version is the more exiting one for sure, thanks to a beefy Radeon 680M RDNA2 iGPU. I really want to see alot of benchmarks and comparisons to other Gaming Handhelds, especialy the Steam Deck. I guess the Win Max 2 will cost more than $1000 with that hardware inside.

I'd prefer the AMD version (especially with this Intel "little cores are just cores" BS) but I'd want eGPU, not for gaming for CUDA/AI video scaling. Drivers and performance seem better supported in Nvidia hw than AMD.

AMD will support eGPU via USB-4.
They confirmed it on Discord.

I saw that. Will believe it when there's more details and maybe an example video on the GPD YT channel.

Are there USB 4 enclosures out there already?
