Leaving The Scene :)

Being that gp32 is a retro box for the most part, I don't see how new consoles rule it out :) ie: Unless the PSP and DS have a good homebrew scene and lot sof emus, the gp32 is still vey viable. However if homebrew does kick up on these guys, well, then it would be trouble for everyone :p

Cheers mate,

jeff

Since PSP will be highly unlikely due to custom media and DRM I will discount that now.

Even if the DS DOES have homebrew the GP32 is still viable. The GP32 has more resolution 320 x 240 Vs 256 x 192. (2 screens don't count for emus, because you would need to split up the game screen ICK). Take Atari ST :) at 320 x 200, or Megadrive at 320 x 220 You would have to cut out resolution on the DS, but works fine on the GP32. Also the screen is still larger at 3.5" vs 3". The GP32 has double the RAM, and faster CPU as well. Plus on the DS you have to mess with those bulky, expensive, import only flash carts. SMC is much easier to get and cheaper.

So I still can see the GP32 being Viable for emus/homebrew awhile yet.

If I were you I'd wait for the results of the latest couple of compos before leaving the scene. There might be some updates or releases that have you drooling.

Well... I wish you well, but still cant understand someone saying one day that they want to 'leave the scene'. The games are still great, and there's still more good games out there than you could ever play.

Need the cash?

Ah well

Cheers!
