It's software this time!

Should davesha skip the queue so he can work directly on the Pyra?

He comes across to me as a pure user, not a low level dev, although maybe he's just shy talking about that. You pick up a little of the system maintenance stuff just porting debian to different systems, but that's still a different world from true low level stuff. He might be someone to review the unit when it's released and most of the bad bugs have been worked out, but that's still a little way off. And indeed, he might want to buy a unit for himself if only he knew about it.

Im against that whe send units at this state for Review, as its too early
They suspekt the Pyra to be that allready finished as other products from big companys which isnt posibel
So maybe when the massproduction runs stable and everything works , then its maybe the time for some PR, everything else could be bad pr if the wrong rewier puts its hands on a Pyra ..

I do not remember writing up a date for the shipment to a reviewer, but for the sake of completion:
Of course we should wait, until the unit is presentable, everything else would be PR suicide.

With @matzesu 's questions regarding cables above, I thought I should share these:

These would be -very- short cables to connect the Pyra -as a device- to a USB C port on another computer, theoretically at 'maximum speed'.

Eventually, we will need someone to create a widget for the Pyra that will let you pick and choose which Pyra storage targets are/not exposed to this kind of connection.

I would like to see this 'widget' effectively be able to turn the Pyra into what appears to the host computer as a multi-port USB hub with three card readers (left, right, inside) and two USB 2.0 ports.

If they wanted to get 'fancy' and include what appears to be a USB network attachment to bridge to the Pyra's internet connection (4G too), that would be a dream.

To get 'even fancier' and have the Pyra in 'device mode' be able to appear to the 'host computer' as a game controller and keyboard - awesome.

But, this kind of cable would be what would enable the Pyra to have that physical device side connection to an other/host computer with USB C.

At least with the uEVM, this is already the default behaviour when connecting the OTG port to a computer. Although it is designed for the other way round, accessing the computer's Internet connection on the OMAP, it would possible to set up routes so that the Pyra's 4G can be shared.

I kind of look at the Pyra as a, "Swiss Army Knife of Computers". Yes, there are bigger tools/computers that do any one of the tasks it can do, "better". But, I cannot think of anything else that can do an okay job of as many tasks and still fit in a (albeit fat) pocket.

Now hurry up and get yours so you can get 3D plus tiler sorted out so I can play Supertux 2 and all the player contributed levels for the next six months? :)

The Pandora at least opened up a hell of a lot of open source games that are fun to play that I simply had no idea existed on my previous computers. Just having a team of devlopers finding these games and making them supremely easy to find and to use was all it took. On this computer, to play oolite I have to clone a git repo and then build it, whereas on the Pandora I just downloaded the pnd when it came out, and used the pnd manager to keep it updated.

I was allready on a Quest for the Cable yesterday, but i only found a USB C to Mini USB Cable, this was meant to be used on our Galaxy Tablet to test the Guitar Cable Adapter which only had USB A to Micro USB and Lightning to Micro USB..

Its not the Right Cable, but i have a USB Hub whit Mini USB, so maybe whit this Cable i could use USB Things on this Tablet..

On the Pyra, i think i wait until i found a Usecase for this Micro USB 3 to USB A Cable..

As high quality microUSB 3.0 cables, both OTG and charging/device cables continue to become more obscure, I am in agreement that @EvilDragon should look into acquiring some stock of them to carry.

Personally, I probably won't be buying any though as I already have quite a few from my using them with my Galaxy Note 3 phone and Galaxy Tab pro 12.2. But - if ED can buy proper quality ~6" (short) microUSB 3.0 OTG to SS USB 3.0 female adapter cables inexpensively in a modest bulk quantity, I suspect they would be good add-on purchases for many of the Pyra buyers. The normal microUSB 3.0 charging/device cables are still relatively easy to find, but becoming more scarce.

Unfortunately not, but ED should have received the EU mainboard from GC yesterday. I pestered him for an update on IRC this morning but haven't heard anything yet (I guess he is busy with day job stuff).

Nonetheless I am trying to make the best of the uEVM, looking into some Vsync issues and trying to make page flipping work to get at least fullscreen 3D stuff efficient and fully tearing-free without bypassing X11 - otherwise, with the current state of things a few lines of tearing at the left of the screen may be a problem - but maybe not as the Pyra LCD has fairly generous Vblank timing.

Update: EvilDragon has got the board and is going to do the assembly now.

Sorry, that could be my fault :( I ordered a Pyra mug and key fob as well as making a small donation. In the comment for the order I requested him to prioritise sending out Pyras first, but he clearly prioritises actual orders and already dispatched it.
I wouldn't worry about that too much. In all likelihood he had several other orders that needed to be dispatched at the same time. That being the case, specifically de-prioritising your order would probably have actually meant extra work for him to do.
