You didn't expect this, I guess.

I wonder if there are some news, i know the Corona Virus dit a lot of holding back to the Project, some Chinese Factorys dit a Mandatory Vacation, and there was this issues whit the blocked borders where the Trucks had to wait a long time to come to Germany ..

Just a small update to know you ditnt got to a Corona Zombie or something..

I just imagine Craig as Negan : "Tell my cute little Lucile your Ordernumber" ^^

Actually what concerns me more than no news, is that there was no posting of ED anywhere on the boards, for a long time. I hope he is alright.
At least, I just noticed he released a new podcast episode, so I take that as a slight life sign.

He's fine.
I did have a small conversation with him over Telegram during the Easter holidays

That's good to know @Askarus. I was wondering myself earlier today, as it doesn't look like he's visited the forum since Sunday.

What concerns me most at this point is the state of the various postal services and whether or not they are able to deliver anything (non "essential") reliably.

for ed's shop, it's covered here

he also sounds in a good mood according the latest podcast from 10.4. :)

so "no worries", i would say ;)

The news of this thread is so old that people had time to get bored of it causing them to go offtopic and then get bored of going offtopic.

If it would make you feel any better, I think we could dig up some old dead horses to beat and fire up yet another SoC/keyboard/color discussion for you. :)

I just hope ED is OK, and his shop is still able to do business.

But yeah, some news (however small) would certainly be most welcome at this juncture :)

My Speccy next is keeping me occupied at the moment......but I get bored of things easily

I am way ahead of you. And yes, it does help.

But I am getting worried about how ED is doing too. Even if he's still waiting for heat sinks or getting the case painted it would be nice to have a status update. Normally I would not be that worried but with COVID-19 measures wrecking the economy I'm a bit more worried than I would normally be.

ED posted some new books he's selling to the site and notifed twitter today. He's still up and running, just probably coronavirus delays means he hasn't much worth reporting. I note on his site now he's advising that some countries aren't delivering international mail, so you're limited to using couriers, which I'd expect to impact sales for the time being though.

covid-19 is also the primary catalyst for widespread abandonment of any form of confidence in governments.
Ironically, you can kind of observe the exact opposite in Germany.

The people have been consistently losing confidence in the big parties for years, especially the conservatives got the reputation that they would simply die out soon because more members kept dying of old age than new one joined - even the populists from the extremist right wing gained a worrying amount of support due to this loss of confidence in the governments of the past decade. However, ever since the government introduced the restrictions to fight COVID-19, the ruling parties started to get more support in the polls once again, while the suddenly very quiet populists of the extremist right wing turned out to be the biggest losers.

Same in Finland. Usually the government parties increasingly lose favor to opposition parties during their term (then next election we get a different kind of government). The current prime minister party especially (Social Democratic Party) has usually been very reliable in this. According to recent polls though, they're again the most favored party. Most talk I hear of our prime minister and how the crisis has been handled on a governmental level is positive. It's only isolated incidences outside governement that get flak. The local populist party, True Finns, got to the most favored party spot before the crisis, but quite quickly came down after it started.

Just emphasises how this epidemic has another feature of a nature in a (just) war. Doesn't quite work out the same way, or at least bites back quicker if you engineer your own war, as Blair found out, or the Republicans with their War on Drugs, but a just war gives a positive and relatively long-lasting boost to the ruling party.
