Amiga Thread.

Yep, the Vamp 4 is a nice beast. 100x as fast as the A4000. I'll probably sell it in my shop a well.
And this is on a V2 Vampire in an Amiga 2000 according to the video description. Essentially my current setup.

The 4 is standalone, so basically a faster MIST (but only for Amiga)
True, but they will have an Accelerator version as well, likely shortly after the stand-alone release which will likely be the A500 version. The A600 and A1200 versions may be a bit out.

The V4 PCB was made to be able to populate the extra ports/components to either have it an accelerator or the stand-alone to keep the price down.

Do we know if the Vampire Standalone will come with any software (Workbench, Amiga OS etc.) or will you have to provide your own? I see some of these Amiga setups in videos, and they look pretty nice; but mine is just set up with Workbench 3.1, and obviously sat with PAL resolution.

Need to provide your own, but there is a common OS install called Coffin OS, that is unofficially bundled by one of the guys on the apollo team that you can just image using common tools like disk druid. It's loaded with games and software as well if you don't mind it being a little bit on the shady side.

Thanks, I'll look it up. Although part of me is tempted to try out Amithlon

That's perfect timing! I just received my A1200 with, fingers crossed, the keyboard issues finally fixed! Also intermittent crackling audio I wasn't even aware of has apparently been fixed too! :) I'll give more details soon, but I had it repaired by a YouTuber who does retro repairs, and as far as I can tell far, he's done a stellar job :)

Some of these tutorials seem a bit short, but at least it's something. It's hard to track down a lot of this info...

I want to share a new game done by one italian guy for AmigaOS4 and Windows.

The game is Blastaway (from the same author of Skillgrid) and you can read some develop info on Italian AmigaPage forum (some post are in italian but every annuncement are in english)

@Farox, shame it's not available on 68k Amiga, Looks like it could be a game that a Vampire or high end 68060 Amiga could handle.

Yeah I know that, and the author say:
Finally, a few notes:
* I chose AmigaOS 4 because, quite simply, that's the only NG system I've ever had;
* please don't ask for ports to other systems: I can't take that burden (supporting two platforms is already demanding, and with BOH I've learned that increasing the number of supported systems beyond two is insane);
* please don't offer to make ports for other systems: also that, for several reasons, takes time and energies;
* please don't be offended if I don't answer to requests/observations about ports: I can't afford to get involved in conversations about something that isn't going to happen anyway;
* if you have a non-IT job for me in a Nordic country, please let me know!
also already asked to port for Pandora (before this notes) ...but as he is using a private/personal framework to create games, don't want to share it.

My new current setup for my Amiga 500 vampire setup.

Was a bit upset that my Checkmate A1500 case build didn't work the way I wanted as I had trouble with the Zorro adapter and my network card, but I still wanted an A500 setup and I didn't want to go back to my A2000 as it's bulky as hell, so I put it back into the case, modified the casing. I Added an ethernet jack essentially the only place I could in the side. I also 3d Printed a custom back plate to expose my uSD card extender, have the USB programmer access to the back and HDMI output from the Vampire. I still have a stock A500 in a pristine case, so don't get too upset I cut into a case.

I also plan on eventually painting the case black along with the old school bread box compiuter monitor stand that came with my Tandy Color Computer long ago. I still have the new key caps I kickstarted a year ago or so eventually coming in, I was going to use them on my A600, but they will work just fine on my A500 and will look good in a painted black case.

Another addition to my setup is an old 4:3 LCD a Samsung 213T, which has DVI for HDMI, but also ends up having a 15KHz friendly VGA input for the RGB out, so really good for my Amiga setup, no need use the HDMI scaler and what not.

As for my checkmate case, I plan on shoving my Vampire A600 in it, as I'm a bit sick of replacing the keyboard membrane on the thing as the third party replacements are really fragile. I need to wait for Steve Jones to open up sales for extra accessories to pick up the A600/A1200 back plate and ATX power adapter.
