I really want this, even though the price is quite steep :(

Can someone please dissuade me from buying one of these?

I've also been interested in this, but i don't like the two extra face buttons. I think they're small and badly placed (i suppose not a direct fault of freeplay, as they are just making use of cases)

It sucks because RPi 3 is more then capable to emulate PSX and all of this kits are missing dual analog.

PSX doesn't require analogs. The original controller was digital-only:

The dualshock controller wasn't released until two years after the PSX launch. Even though many later games supported analogs as well, virtually all games for the system were fully playable with the original digital controller. To the best of my knowledge, ape escape is the only PSX game that requires analog sticks.

Yeah, good luck playing Darkstone, or any First/Third person shooter without DUAL analog.
Some of the games are far more playable even with only one analog stick (Original PSP) like Diablo or any Racing game,
but without ANY analog is pain in the ass. You must be masochist to enjoy it.
