Do you drive an automatic or manual car?

Here in Austria, automatic cars are more a old-man thing.
(Driving with hat and a roll toilet paper with knitet protection on the rear shelve. Maybe a nodding dog on the dashboard.)

Most other people driving manual shifted cars.
They are cheaper and less hassle when you drive on mountain roads.

And if you get your license on an automatic car, you are only allowed to drive automatic cars.
If you get the license on an manual, you are allowed to drive automatic and manual shifted cars.

So yes, I drive manual.

The only way your ride would make a comfortable 30 in fifth gear is in free fall :p
If you have more than 40KW/h (ca. 54PS) its easy possible to maintain 30km/h in 5th gear.
Specialy if you drive an Diesel.

Seems not many are voting Automatic, wonder if it's because as Manual drivers are more vocal about expressing that we can drive it than others. I know from statistics in the US, manual transmission drivers only make up at best 18% of the population.

I moved to the US 4 1/2 years ago so I don`t have much choice! But I was manual for 15 years before that. Actually when my wife moved to the UK in 2004 she couldn`t do the manual thing so we we got a semi automatic. She could drive in auto and I could use the paddles behind the wheel. It was a SMART Roadster.

I had a 75HP Diesel Polo and it wouldn't do that comfortably, and I find it impractical since there's no motor brake, just stalling. But each to their own

Manual 6 shift for my rotary engine and changing to no-gear electric in January or February 2019 (when my new car will hopefully be delivered)
I drove manual my entire life and loved it but the traffic around Cologne and electric cars in general changed my ways :)

I have only 2 gears, forward and reverse

I own five cars. Three automatics and two manual. Four drivers in the household. I'm the only one of the four that can drive stick.

Today I drove the 10 year old Subaru Impreza base with a 5 speed manual to work.
