Gameshell - Modular, "open", gaming handheld (kickstarter)

This one turned out looking really good, large enough to fit a usable screen and be comfortable to hold, like an ergonomic Pocket Chip with game controls. It'll be interesting to see how things will look like after a year, if they'll still be making them and providing dev & customer support (thinking GCW Zero), and if a community builds up.

We've certainly come a long way since the GP32, haven't we?
Seeing this and similar devices always makes me wonder why GPH was unable to stay in business and keep up. They were making open handhelds since before all this stuff was trendy and their products were getting better every iteration, so much wasted potential

This thing seem really interesting... the additional buttons seems a little hackish anyway, I hope that in a future revision them will be more integrated to the case

I don't think South Korea is actually that good for the small players - if you're not Samsung or LG, good luck cos all the manufacturers will be busy making stuff for those guys.

FWIW, remember that the GP32 was not made by GPH - GPH came on the scene after GamePark bowed out after the GP32 got hacked essentially. But GPH stuck around making devices up until the Cannoo as I recall, and they were undercut by the likes of JXD making slightly sucky android devices. I personally had my Pandora by then, so had kind of lost interest in what they were doing.

I'll be interested more if they make more modules/cases. Like mentioned above a GBA type shell would be cool.

I think this is a really good idea and the OS looks awesome. Not a Pyra, and I doubt you could make a smallish computer modular like this and still have it be pocketable.

As others have said this would be great if they offered an alternate GBA like shell with shoulder buttons.

When I say GBA I essentially mean a candy bar shape not the amount of buttons.
