With a battery life of 4h? Woohoo. :D

I'd rather have my Pyra.
Even with the current Switch you don't go up to 4h of gaming so easily so with a smaller one, maybe 2 hours

They would need to shrink the SoC for that first. They already seem to be on the edge concerning thermal dissipation on the original switch with reports over bending issues due to getting too hot.
Also the Joycons are already incredibly small - I wonder if they would be still detachable when you shink them down even further...

Honestly, I would just prefer they not be removable at all, as I have zero interest in using this as a console, or propping it up, and playing on that little screen with 2-3 other people. Something in the form of the Vita with the controls built in, and I'm good.

Of course, the joy-cons are a big part of the "switch" tag line, but "3D" was also a major part of the 3DS, and they offered a version without it after seeing it met a certain need in the market, so I'm hoping the same logic can be brought to bear here as well. Sadly, when and where "N" is involved, logic & reason really don't mean much, so I guess we'll see what happens in time. But for me to buy an NS currently, it would be like buying the ONE with the Kinect, as I would be paying for features I don't need or want.

I wonder since the HW is similar to the Shield TV, if the Switch firmware could be hacked onto it. I wonder if anyone will ever try

That would be one expensive shield tablet with no on board USB ports (dock only afaik).
I think android would make more sense concerning ports...

Could USB be hacked together through the dock port or something? What sort of OS is it running?

I just had some silly ideas that others (with more skills and knowledge) have probably already thought of. Nintendo has probably gone to great lengths to keep their customers from having complete control over their new devices anyway, but as I said before
Someone always tries.

Plus, gotta keep us those pirates away as long as possible.

tl;dr If Nintendo finds a dumped Switch ROM, they can trace it back to the cart it came from and ban said cart due to each cart having a unique ID.

The rub: If you accidentally buy one of these banned carts at a used game store and use it yourself, you will also be banned from all Switch online services.

Conclusion: Get a Pyra instead, and hack it all day erryday. ;)

Yeah, I saw this yesterday as well, and used game sells came to mind right away. "N" has always touted how they allow for physical, and used game transactions, so this is going to be interesting. So this is for sure a PSA that everyone should make note of. CFW and such are just starting on the NS, but I can see that ramping up rather quickly, and I can already see the shit storm this is going to lead to.

I rarely if ever get my son used games, but I'm all over them if and when the price is right. If I had my own NS, I would for sure be buying mostly used, as "N" is off their nut charging full retail for most of those old ports I can get for $10 on the Wii U. And after this years E3, I can honestly say I'm years away from getting one, so I guess I can see where this ends up over time. But as is, I have less reason to buy an NS now, than I did a year ago and this cart issue isn't improving that situation in the least.

I agree that they've not handled WiiU owner very fairly.
