Banana Pi UMPC, anyone?

MINE'S BE ALIVE
looks like he's almost finished with it. Hopefully my custom color scheme isn't too weird, but even if it is THAT'S TOTALLY FINE.

Look forward to hearing what you think about it and seeing a few pics too......

Yes, of course! Kinda wanna link the progress photos he uploads to Instagram, but oh well. It shant be long til I receive my custom unit now.

Sorry I went quiet for so long. I got my PuterPi last Monday, but I had wanted to wait for my Win 2 to arrive as well so I can take size comparison pics all at once...that took longer than I would've liked, but oh well.

In the end I might not get as much use out of my PuterPi as any of my other UMPCs/MIDs, but I still really love it and am thankful that Chris put such a good deal of time and care into building it. That said, I'm not a big fan of the amount of heat it produces (the Banana Pi seems to be quite a bit hotter than the Raspberry Pi, though I'm glad he added a heatsink to help get that heat off the CPU) and the mousepad is kinda fidgety in ARMbian, but I think it can be rectified by tweaking the sensitivity settings. Still, quite a nifty little device and if I can get sound off of it somehow, it'll be nice to play old JRPGs and SRPGs on it as well as other computer stuff.

Also if you think my choice of colors is...strange, well it's supposed to be. I call it MAXIMUM BANANA :D

EDIT: BTW....does anyone know a good way to remove super glue residue from an LCD? My PocketCHIP thanks you.........

Using a solvent is the common way to get rid of superglue. But I have to ask, what is it stuck to? If it's a plain glass front polariser LCD then you could probably use acetone very carefully (cos it'll mess up the case if it gets there), but if it's got any kind of coating I can't guarantee it wouldn't strip that also, and if you've got a resistive touchscreen layer on it it'll definitely screw that up.

I can't see the residue in those photos there by the way, although there is rather a lot of JPEG compression there which might make it hard to see. I do like the colour though.

Congrats, AVahne, on your MAXIMUM BANANA Pi!

Definitely looks like banana pi....

As for touchpad, only issue I have is that after a period of it not being used, it goes inactive. But as soon as press the Esc key (think this is the one, I haven't used my BPi for a little while, since receiving my Gemini....), it wakes up quickly and is fine. [UPDATE: I plugged in my tiny usb wired Targus mini-mouse and have noticed that it works continuously, even if I leave the BPi for a while and come back.]

As for the heat, there was quite a bit when using the OS image that Chris put on it. I replaced that image with one of the Armbian image files available from the Banana Pi website and it runs pretty cool and more functional too.

Ask Chris if he installed this image file on it:

Enjoy!

Used apt-get upgrade and apt-get dist-upgrade on BPi.

So far, working great....

:)
[doublepost=1527025739,1527008710][/doublepost]Looks like I spoke too soon....

Not sure if it is because of system update or BPi didn't shutdown properly, but I tried to boot up again after shutdown and I get error message in console:

Looks like it's time to re-image microSD card....

;)

Thanks for those pictures. Is that a Panasonic Jungle? If so, more pictures please!:)

UPDATE

I re-imaged card and did apt-get upgrade and this time also apt-get dist-upgrade.

Rebooted and it worked properly.

So, all's good now...
