Installing/Using WINE on the Pyra!

I have a real quick question regarding the use of WINE on the Pyra? I've acquired copies of the Silent Hill games on PC and am wondering if it will be possible to install and run them through WINE on the Pyra? Of course there are more PC games from the early 2000's and earlier that would also be kinda neat to play natively on the Pyra without having to stream them through something like Moonlight from my gaming PC to the Pyra! I'm looking forward to diving into how Linux works and using the Pyra as an entry point into the Linux scene!

Wine by itself isn't going to 'get you there'. The Pyra uses an ARM CPU, not an X86.

However, there is still hope - using an X86 interpreting layer should make it possible to play many older X86 games. Many of the older X86 games from Steam actually install a DOS emulator to play - many of those played on the Pandora too.
 
I realize that it turns Windows API calls into POSIX calls on-the-fly and eliminates any performance or memory penalties when running Windows applications in Linux. When I said natively running on the Pyra, I was meaning from the standpoint of playing them directly on the Pyra itself, and not using a program like Moonlight to stream them from my PC to the Pyra. Thank you for replying and I look forward to getting my Pyra and starting to use it. I also want to thank Michael Mrozek (Evil Dragon) and the talented men and women that are helping him make this project become a reality! :)

Is it part of the Debian Stretch repo? If so, then that'll do. Thank you for the quick reply!
It is commercial software that needs to be paid for, it's not part of a repo sadly. However it is inexpensive and works very well! An open source option would be QEMU, but I believe Exagear is 5 times faster.
 
I looked up the Eltech website and was looking at the 3 different options available for order and I have a quick question? Would the one designed for the Pi 3 work on the Pyra for my particular use case? Thank you! :)

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't look well enough. I see they also have an Arm v7 version also.

I'm pretty sure that instructions for Exagear will get written up shortly after the Pyra gets into more hands.
 
If we ever get an Android port that runs well on the Pyra you could try Crossover Linux. It would probably still not be enough processing power to be playable though.
 
@Vardius I own a license for exagear to use on my pandora to experiment a bit. I asked the devs if the license could be migrated to my pyra once it is released and apparently that is possible, but the license is bound to your device. So keep that in mind when considering to buy, exagear has weird drm.

It would be 'one more thing', but I wonder what kind of bulk-license price @EvilDragon could get to include Exagear with every Pyra. OK, bad idea. Still, I suspect a lot of us are going to be mutual customers for both companies.
 
I will be sure to keep all these things in mind when the time comes. How is the Pi 3 version of ExaGear in terms of performance just out of curiosity? If it's decent I might consider getting a license for my Pi 3 also?
