Very Curious...Heard One Could Trade In A Pandora...

Not sure there is a direct trade in deal, but my guess you could send your Pandora back to ED for store credit voucher that could be applied to the Pyra. It would most likely be something that would need to be arranged via email and such.

There was so many different prices for the Pandora between models, but here are the prices per the pre-order page: https://www.dragonbox.de/en/45-pyra

* Pyra Standard Edition, 2GB RAM: 500 EUR without VAT (=595 EUR incl. VAT)
* Pyra Standard Edition, 4GB RAM: 529,41 EUR without VAT (=630 EUR incl. VAT)
* Pyra Mobile Edition, 2GB RAM: 600 EUR without VAT (=714 EUR incl. VAT)
* Pyra Mobile Edition, 4GB RAM: 626,05 EUR without VAT (=745 EUR incl. VAT)

The batteries are different, the Pyra is slightly larger 6000mAh vs 4200mAh. the connectors are the same it may be possible to have a 3D printed frame that would allow you to shove a Pandora battery into the Pyra, but there most likely need to have the calibration values changed in the software.

thats news to me but i think it would be a nice think if it would happen, it would atleast give ED a chance to sell the pandora's to people that cant afford the pyra

Trade in my Pandora? I don't think I would want to do that, even with the Pyra I still see it as a bit of gaming history. It still plays games well, and it is well designed. I don't know, I am selling a ton of my games for a trip I'm planning, Genesis, SNES, N64, gamecube, but I just couldn't let go of my Pandora.

Yeah, I'm keeping mine. Besides, with the small cracks and missing parts of the case, lost paint and butchered LCD connector, I'm not sure it's worth that much to anyone else any more.

I suspect that even if your Pandora hasn't gone through the wars that mine has, you'll probably get more for it in a private/ebay sale than what ED could offer. But I guess it might be nice if ED could still get a little profit towards the Pyra with the resale of your old Pandora, if he's charging anything close to auction price. Though you could still donate, I think, it it helped your conscience somehow.

Not actually considering letting go of my Pandy myself. For one thing, not sure that the Pyra will play old .pnd files and I have some customm stuff on mine. And I like my Pandy, anyway. I was thinking of it in terms of people who wanted to upgrade...maybe could...and the poorer folks - like people in my area of the socioeconomic strata...could pick up a Pandy for a lot cheaper than new. Just a thought I had heard it could be done and thought there should be some clarification about this from DragonBox...since I was quite unable to find anything about this on the official site.

As with almost all trade-in programs it would almost definitely be better to sell it on e-bay. I can't see ED offering trade-in unless someone really really doesn't want to deal with online auctions, but then he'd have to pay much less than what you would get if you handled it yourself: man's gotta make a profit.
