Gamescom, sensor upgrade and other nice news

Using compose for a letter like å is not really an acceptable solution, it's used too often in text for that. However, remapping the ü to a å should be trivial enough.
I hope there is a simple way to do that. I'm Swedish, and I need å. It was a huge problem on the Pandora, the shortcuts where to complex. I was very happy to see that ä and ö is on the Pyra keyboard :)

Well, we can't have labels for every single language, but even if there is not a label for a particular letter I hope language specific characters can be mapped so they can be typed easily.

Even the word Spanish needs ñ (It's "Español"). Remapping ä to ñ, for example, should be an acceptable solution for Spanish speakers too.

But how do you remap a key?
There's an article in the archwiki, that describes how to change keyboard mappings on an X-Server level. [1]
With all the keyboard discussion going on here I'm sure there's the same info buried in the forums somewhere.

In a nutshell:
You can print the current keyboard mapping in a plain text file. Then you alter that file, reload it and have an altered mapping.

Well, I'm not dissatisfied :) But how do you remap a key?
There should either be an xkb or an xmodmap mapping for the Pyra keyboard, which you can edit.
I didn't research that much, but xkb seemed more flexible and work on a deeper level in X11. All language specific keymaps in Linux are implemented in xkb.
There also needs to be a keymap file for the terminal, which is another format.

That TCA8418 map makes my project a whole lot easier than trying to plot row and columns based off that old schematic you shared... maybe someday I'll finish it.

What is this? :D
Is that... a pandora keyboard approximation with some kind of HID breakout?

What the hell?
When the Pyra keyboard layout was finalized I wanted to make a physical keyboard using the same hardware the Pyra uses and connected the same way. When my first OMAP5 devboard died I put everything on hold, but now I got a replacement. My end goal is to have an all in one Devboard Enclosure with a keyboard and 2.5" HDD slot, something that may look like an Amiga A500/1200 or C64.

Why not? have you just wanted to make something?

That is awesome. I love it and please share photos if it's ever completed.

So, essentially, this will be Pyra desktop?

Are you going to add 'nubs' too? I know RadioShack had standalone clickable thumbsticks, but I don't know if they still do.

Yeah I have some Analogs I got online that I may use, but I'm still mulling around if I'll put them on the unit or construct some kind of plug in controller.

Yeah essentially, more of a quirky device with a bizarre keyboard.

That depends. If you want to be able to play games, I would recommend making a controller that mirrors the arrow keys and other gaming keys, and has the nubs on it. If you just want it to look like the Pyra's layout, I'd put them where they'd be on a real Pyra.
