Not sure whether it`s too late, maybe it can be modded after the fact but..

A little joystick that could be screwed into the middle of the D-pad would be great.
I guess it couldn`t be too long as it might break the Dpad if your too rigorous with it.

Not sure what handheld I had that had this.. gp2x?

Don`t think I`ve seen this talked about.. what do you guys think ?

The case design and such will be released shortly after the Pyra is released. A 3D printed D-PAD or nubs sticks could very well be easily done.

I forget, is the d-pad going to be glued to the keymat the way it is on the Pandora, or is it a completely separate and easily replaceable thing by itself?

I don't know if this was a common thing (or part of a default setup) with any handhelds, however I think there were controllers that had screw in joysticks.

I think this was briefly discussed, as I recall talking about it. Someone mentioned it as a mod for GBs somewhere else, and it seemed like it would be beneficial for some software I use, so it stuck in my mind. I don't know how much it would improve the Pyra, but it should be doable. If you print the parts you should be able to make new ones if they break.
[doublepost=1469762699,1469762632][/doublepost]I do think the dpad will be glued on. I will take a look at the news threads later.

You'd need to be careful using one of those on a clamshell though. If you forget to remove it before attempting to close the lid you could damage or break the screen...

I think the problem is more, that the nubs move on a flat surface and are not "turned". acoustic only makes sense, when there is a sphere on the bottom of it. Since the nubs ar moved on a plane surface, a stick above it would break them pretty quick.

If the d-pad isn't glued on and has enough material in the middle; you could take it out, drill a hole, cut a thread and make/get a fitting screw for it.
If the d-pad isn't sturdy enough for this and there's no place for a thicker one (made of wood for example), you could replace it with one made of another material like POM, brass or steel.

That's what I'd do if I would be into this stuff but I prefer it flat.
Fortunately I make my own special brass screws with my lathe by now anyway and look forward to some stylus modding as soon as I got my Pyra.

Ok, maybe a drawing will help you guys!
Imagine you put a stick on the Nubs-Housing: You won't be able to turn it. You could only slide the stick to the left/right/up/down on a plane. The housing would break

I don't think anyone was suggesting doing this to the nubs, only to the DPad. The DPad does pivot on point, so I don't see that as an issue.

Ahhh... sorry guys... my bad! yes of course... I confused the D-Pad with the nubs. :)

That is a lot of games that will be missing the $1s.
Something I thought would be fun - find a country who's currency has devalued to 'worthless', buy it by the truckload, build bundles in denominations apprpriate to play Monoploy or poker with, sell it by those stacks for a proffit. I haven't had enough interest in doing this to actually look - someone might be doing it already.

Chinese money has some crazy low value notes, but I don't know if they make them still. Judging by the state of most of them I got they're just hanging about in circulation, but it was odd sometimes to pay for something cheap with a coin and get a bundle of notes as change.

I think you're not meant to take it out of the country too, so that might be a flaw in your plan too.

Reminds me of those theme parks having their own currency.
Welcome to Communism Land, get your special coins at the entrance in exchange for real money (cannot be exchanged back) and have a fun ride.
Be sure to try our latest entertainment hall, the Working Bee.

I checked on Ebay. Apparently a person can buy stacks of 100 or even 1000 pieces of uncirculated currency from many countries for less than what it would cost to do a decent double sided laser print job of it.

Who knew? I may have to build that monopoly set yet.
