PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

I wonder... they all seem to be actors.
Is there some huge company trying to find out whether there's a market for such a device by using Kickstarter?
Maybe they don't plan to finish it but cancel the Kickstarter one day before it's through and just want some cheap market analysis :)

I thought of that too, but thought that such an experiment would not be made exactly into the specifics of videogames...so, scam in my books.
For some reason I remembered this:

Perhaps a bunch of nerdy actors with mob ties (is this rare?) that don't know what they are doing want a Wintel smartphone with physical gaming controls and dual two screens. Actors can be inventors too. Or whatever this group can rightfully be called. And everyone likes playing games.

Lies all over the place, Russian mob ties, LLC which most likely sends all the money to Russia and goes bye-bye, a team of actors, fake prototype, etc...
how much more do people need to drop their naivety?
Well... no? That's the whole point, they aren't indistinguishable. In one case their backers get strung along while the money is bled away trying to produce an impossible device, in the other it's just gone, there never was any intention to even try and produce it. Whether you get your money back at the end or not is irrelevant, scam has a very important legal definition. The difference is whether they are clever or ignorant: if you call it a scam then you're giving them far more credit than I am.
You really expect them to use the money for something else than themselves?
They said that they already got investors for a while and still they've done nothing so far apart from an ad, a fake "prototype" and writing bs everywhere.

But then they wouldn't have participated in this Thread.

Still 18 Days to Go... Lets see what wrong and conflicting information they release until then.

Another update from the internet detective that found out about our friend Alan Williams. It does seem that Artur Krants is a real person. He was able to find his VK page, and actually sent him a pm. Artur replied and confirmed that he is in fact working for PGS and is actively trying to get investors for the project. So at least Artur is who they state he is.

So that gives a bit of credibility to PGS, but I still have to question why the deception on some of the team members? I can only speculate that it is a smaller team than they have said and they are trying to give off a appearance off a larger organization, with experienced members, to provide some reassurance to backers.

Either way misleading people is not the right way to go about things, and against kickstarter. I don't want to sound like I am drinking the koolaid but I feel pretty lucky to be here and with my pre-ordered Pyra. With ED and the team providing the transparency and openness with so many updates, good or bad. I already feel sick to my stomach for the PGS backers as if they will be dishonest now with such information such as the true identity of a few "team members" and their backgrounds. I can only imagine how bad it will be when issues arise or deadlines pass. Yikes!

PGS responded to a question regarding why Alan is Kostas on social media

"Actually, Alan's true name is Konstantin. And he is indeed our community manager. He is responsible for our participation in social networks and also he was in touch with the media previously. We apologize that we had to change his data. As most of you may know, currently we have complicated political situation in Russia, and Alan (it's his new name, previously Konstantin) is going to migrate to the USA for permanent living. He wants to prevent his real personal data to leak into the media. It may lead to issues with Alan's preparing for migration. We are truly hope for your understanding.
If some backers wish to communicate with team members personally, feel free to write in private chat, we can provide the contacts, it is not a secret."

At this point I still expect them to try and fail. It's Craig and the Pandora all over again, except with loftier goals and an easier way to raise money. If kickstarter had been around in 2007 there is little doubt in my mind that the Craiginator would've been a project on it that would have raised a million dollars and then collapsed under its own weight. To this day I still don't think Craig ever intentionally set out to take people's money and not deliver, he just got in way over his head, and that's exactly what I feel is going on here. He's being skeevy about it, a "marketing genius" sort of thing, because that's the only thing he knows how to do well in order to help his project along.

They posted a new update on their KS page. Looking at some pages about the Fujitsu F07C, someone said only its dock has a fan. Not sure if that's true or if they meant the dock or what.

"The way to increase the Atom Z87XX performance by 50% has been found

Hello our friends. I'm glad to tell you that we've found the way to retrieve about 50% additional performance for the needs of PGS from the Cherry Trail SoC. Now let's go through it in details:
As you may know, there are 2 engineers in our team - Nadir, the PGS founder and Sergei. Sergei is currently working on developing the new prototype version, we are communicating with components suppliers, potential investors, media and partners for upcoming manufacturing. Meanwhile, Nadir locked with test samples in his office 3 days ago and said not to disturb him. Today Nadir returned to us and he was really excited about what he has found. Here what he states:

It's already several days that I've been testing Voyo V3 and Surface 3 mainboards. In both cases the 4GB dual-channel RAM was used. There were thousands of tests, hundreds of combinations of BIOS settings. And I've come to interesting results:

Fact 1: Maximum z8700 CPU frequency is 2.4 GHz (z8750 is 2.56 GHz). Maximum z8700 GPU frequency is 600 MHz.

Fact 2: The Surface 3 which we were using to test performance so far, almost immediately after the game launch reduces the CPU frequency to 0.8-1.1 GHz and GPU frequency to 380-420 MHz.

Fact 3: Voyo V3 almost immediately after the game launch reduces CPU freq. to 0.6-0.8 GHz and GPU freq. to 200 MHz.

Fact 4: The above mentioned facts take place due to the SoC integrated system for power saving and heat protection.

Fact 5: Disabling this protection in BIOS led to SoC overheating after some time.

Fact 6: Intentional cooling the SoC by a copper radiator and tiny fan led to significant temperature decrease. In this case the CPU and GPU frequencies stay in fixed values of 2.4 GHz and 600 MHz respectively.

Fact 7: Without using the cooling fan, when only the radiator is present, we get the performance the same as we retrieved from Surface 3 tests. It is quite a decent performance which is sufficient for comfortable gaming the most PC games in HD resolution.

Fact 8: We can integrate a tiny cooling fan into Hardcore version, sacrificing the additional speakers. The same fan as in Fujitsu F07C. It is very silent, tiny and efficient, it produces almost no sound and it is activated only when enabling the "PERFORMANCE" mode. It can give us about 50% additional performance in games. And this is very cool!

What do you think?"

Yeah, right. These guys can do what no one else in the industry could yet :)

I don't even think that the CPU frequency immediately is being reduced because of heat, but probably because the game doesn't need as much CPU power.
That's scaling...

Ok, so as you can hear in the video below, the fan is very noisy and it seems the concensus about this product, is that the fan is in the cradle which make sense when you see the video. And yes, that noise is the fan. That fan does not sound like it would fit in the PGS. But I haven't seen a pic of it. I suppose there is a chance it's really small, but that sound, hhmmmmm

I cancelled my pledge, i kind of lost interest, il be focussing on the Pyra instead.
I lost interest because i am already looking forward to the Pyra, and i dont really want to maintain more then one device.
And as an IT/Tech guy i prefer devices like the Pyra over flashy consumer devices anyway.

But hope for them they can still make it, who knows it provides a platform for cheaper production of devices like the Pyra.

Maybe I should do some crowdfunding and use a portion of the money to move to Europe. Or maybe Australia, as I hear they have a lot of desert over there.

I was going to say something about a particular presidential candidate, but sure, move to the US.

Actually, I might be content in Mexico or South America. (Canada would be too cold and Canadian for me.)

Quite the opposite of the Pyra development actually, diamentrally so.
Sharing openly, and having progress to show, helps a project.
Even sharing problems is good. Having them isnt, but its not like pushing things under the carpet solves anything.

PGS currently at -6739$ for the day, Pyra at +1 preorder http://p.rdw.se/pyra-preorder.html

I suspect we will see increased upticks as backers wanting real news and hardware make the switch.

Sounds like quite an epic but epic what? Almost 360,000 raised and 18 days to go. From what I'm reading in this thread its pie in the sky and destined to die.
Hard to believe there are so many willing to part so easily with their cash - better to send it to me than throw it away on a bad soap opera. I'll find honest uses for it like beer food and traveling and I'll update backers weekly, complete transparency! ;)
