What are you playing this weekend/these days?

If you ask me that is an example of how a great series was raped into a franchise for (excuse my english) consumerist shit, it lost all the most cerebral and strategic elements of the game to make it more mainstream and console friendly, it is basically braindead second class entertainment compared to what was so outstandingly delivered in the first game [...] unfocused on what matters.
Well, unfortunately not enough people see or feel what makes Fallout 1 so awesome compared to the later ones. The best RPGs are often the ones that sell worst because there aren't enough people like us to justify making more with the stuff that matters to us. ;)

One Finger Death Punch

AWESOME !! My fingers are in pain but need to keep playing O_O and playing O_O and playing O_O

I found it while searching for games similar to Kung Fury...

It is really made with love, even if it is basically a "simple" (not easy) game, it is full of eye catching features, good background music and a lot of different stages in the "story" (without story) mode.
The difficulty level is very high while going on, and I think it could become impossible at some point, so it is good for someone who likes challenges.

The most difficult survival mode is called "NO LUCA NO", and it is indeed difficult, but at the same time hilarious, I just can't keep the concentration because I keep giggling.

Giving the time I already spent on it and the incredible cure for particulars, it is sold for a really low low price... I played for 13 hours and still I'm finding new things that keeps me there...

Yes! thats very true, what would you recomend regarding a good pc RPG? I am very keen on checking Morrowind when it goes on a promo at gog.com it may also run on the pyra one day so I think it would be worth the money spent.

About games that Im currently playing... To my surprise I managed to get my old copy of Quake 4 after years and years of trying to run it on modern windows, and now I got to run it perfectly on my windows 10, all I had to do was patch it to the latest version, and it is a heck of a great game, lot's of nostalgia from playing it, I am almost finishing the campaign and even checked out the multiplayer and there are still people playing! It's a shame it isnt open source like Doom 3.

- Inquisitor is the closest experience to Fallout I have encountered, mind though that the Paladin character class is vastly underpowered. The storyline is superb.
- Planescape: Torment obviously.
- Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines

Regarding the other section:
I loved Quake 1-3 but only tried the demo of Quake 4 once and my system was way too slow back then, would like to try it again some day.

Quake 4 retains the focus on a singleplayer campaign in a cinematic way, it is still very fast paced and feels very oldschool, however it has less secrets and the abstract exploration that the old ID softwar nailed so well, still it's a top notch game one of the best FPS games I've played, it's also a bargain nowadays.

BTW
I was awere of both Planescape: Torment and Vampire and The Masquerade: Bloodlines, I even have them on my gog wishlist, Inquisitor however never grabbed my attention, I'll check it sometime.

Trying to stay in the Fallout approach:

If you're not opposed to low resolution and old graphics, the Ultima series comes to mind. Well, the first 3 are really dated and not really interesting. The fourth has an interesting concept, but is dated as well and the concept quickly turns to just a different kind of grind. The fifth starts the transition to a more modern game and also has an interesting concept but can still be hard to approach.
I think the sixth (and the World of Ultimas running on the same engine) is the first game that doesn't feel too dated gameplay wise.
Ultima 7 is one of the best computer RPG ever: interesting story and an open living world with a lot of possible interactions. I spent a lot of time having fun playing it as a sandbox game before taking on the actual quests (and discovered a completely different aspect of the game when I did).
Ultima 8 is far more action oriented and the transition from the huge interactive sandbox to a very railroaded adventure made it a big disappointment, there were also some bugs and problems that were only fixed with a patch that few players actually got their hands on back in the day, so it suffers from a very bad reputation. On its own, it's a decent action RPG and it has a surprising take on the hero's quest.
Ultima 9 took a long time to be released, was extremely buggy on release, broke a lot of promises made during development and had a story with many plot holes and inconsistencies with the earlier games (though to be fair nearly all Ultima games have them). So it was also shot down by fans, but it's still a decent action oriented RPG with fantastic exploration and atmosphere and clever dungeon architecture and puzzles.

Some people enjoyed Arcanum. It has a big open world and supports many different approaches. However I found it hard to invest myself in the story and universe.

I've heard good things about Divinity: Original Sin but haven't tried myself. Same for the new Wastelands (the old one is interesting but also dated)

I love this game. The story about how they got it made was pretty interesting too. All thanks to microsoft charging people to update their game on top of paying to get it on their storefront, on top of having to pay a license per year [maybe month idk] just to still stay on the storefront [outside of development which is kind of a given]. No, Luca, No mode is based on a previous game they did to gather the funds to do this one. All you do in it is push a cat away from a cereal bowl. Due to how microsoft ran Xbox Indies, developers pushed out pure Kusoge to make a quick buck for bigger projects. Once word got out about how bad the system was, developers pushed out more kusoge sometimes for the fuck of it. No Luca No, is probably one of the worse games [along with their other, pre-one finger death punch, games] But from those ashes we got one of the best twitch games ever.

OT: I've been playing Doom and Overwatch. Highly recommend Doom. I admit, I assumed something might go wrong through single player but it started strong and finished stronger. Multiplayer.... its a toss, it depends on the person. Snapmap is very nice. The stuff people come up with is entertaining [like the guy who is remaking doom 1 inside doom 2016].
Overwatch was a nice surprise especially coming from blizzard of all people. There is a character for nearly every play style so new people and people familiar with fps's can join in without much issue. Also the estimated time it would take to connect to a match is insanely overstated. Oh I can wait 24 secs *game connects in under two seconds* Some claim its what TF2 should have been, and I kinda get what they are saying with that. The varied game types is very nice coming from multiplayer that is simply "shoot anything that moves" that is taking up a lot of modern multiplayer cliches

I knew nothing about the background, I've only seen the "Thank you" video after I finished the game, where the developer was telling it was difficult to reach the goal they had, also, I just finished the game in "master" mode, and I wasn't expecting another "Thank you" video !
Actually it's cool to receive all those thanks, I feel a better person now :D

Now I need to finish the Grandmaster mode, to see if there's another video.... O_O

By the way... after playing this game, I feel that "Kung Fury" seems soooooo slooooow O_O

EDIT:

That's what just happened in Kung Fury after I trained myself with One Finger Death Punch... (my best score never surpassed 160000 before...)

Three day adventure of bing drinking and playing Magic: The Gathering.

Finally found time to give "Stories: Path of Desytinies" a try:
Initially I wanted to give it a thumps up / 5 of 5 stars for the concept of letting me make decisions that actually influence the forthcoming of the story and the end of it. But unfortunately there are several downsides to how it is implemented into the game: there is only one real/right ending all of the other 24 are "fails". This rather big count of "endings" results in a decision tree that you have to reiterate a lot. But due the not changeing levels, the game gets pretty repetitive.
Unfortunately there isn't a really engaging gameplay to counter that: Its basically a button masher, which never really gave me the feeling of being in control of the character. Combat itself is (strangely) restricted to certain areas, between those there are only some inanimate objects to chop and some chests to empty.
Thanks to the concept, the art style, the story and the character I think its worth a play..through ..which I still need to do, but I only the "real" ending - currently I don't feel I have to see every ending.

I've been playing a lot of Dead or Alive 2 for the Dreamcast...
More than I should, but I never had so much fun with a fighting game before.

Been playing Sonic Adventure and Sega Rally 2 on my dreamcast too.
Anyone got good sugestions on a great Dreamcast game that is affordable and replayable?

I've been playing the demo of Sega Rally 2 (PC port) a bloody lot, unfortunately never got the full game and SEGA still isn't on GOG.
I guess the DC version isn't hard to get.

The highest replay value may be present in Virtua Tennis 1 though.
I never get tired of this game, especcially in multiplayer mode, but the challenges, mini games and unlockables are awesome too.

After a long time of not really playing any games... I decided to install Spore (+ Creepy&Cute, Galactic Adventures, Better Spore gameply Mod, + Dark Injection Mod) onto my Surface Pro 2...

I love this game! I had forgotten how much I love this game... I remember fantasising about being able to play Spore on the go years ago... but back then my desktop could only run it on low to medium settings..

My Surface Pro runs it flawlessly on maximum settings... It is a dream come true! Playing it again, I struggle to think of any game I've ever enjoyed more... its almost a spiritual experience.
The mods make quite a difference. I cannot connect to the Spore servers (either they are down, or my account is no longer functioning), so I have to find other people's creations manually by browsing the sporepedia online... as well as finding all my old creations (I had lost them when that desktop died).

I must say, this game was made for people like me... I've evolved a 'Glade Metamouse' to space stage... and I'm completely in love with it.... It looks amazing, and moves perfectly! The tribal interactions were hilarious to watch... especially when I found a nest of one of my old creations and domesticated one of them!

I would love to share my new creations with you guys, but you will need at least Spore, Creepy&Cute, Galactic Adventures, patched to 1.6 (bot parts), and Dark Injection mod installed correctly to view and use my creations properly.

Metamice taking over the galaxy? Why wait when you can make it happen now at your convenience.

... perhaps this is what normal people feel when they fall in love. ..
