PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

Maybe they will have a video.

ED needs to make some videos to be released during E3.

Hello, dear forum users. We want to thank you once again for your help, because you inspire us to make our project better. Only because of you, the release version of the device will include such features as:
Changeable battery
Key backlight
A programmable part of the lower display to use as keys or macroses
A virtual keyboard for the lower display, which supports full-screen games
Vibration
Special version of device in black color
Today, we have two pieces of news for you. One is good, while another is bad.
As well as many other distinctive features, which were simply impossible without your tips.
Besides that, we want to tell you two pieces of news. Unfortunately, one of them is bad. The good news in that we have finally reached agreement with investors and signed a contract. Thanks to that, the basic price of PGS will start from 230$ as we planned before. But there’s a bad news. One asshole shared our old and discarded video for Kickstarter and this video was reposted and published by the vast majority of journalists and media, which wrote about our release. As the result, our investors were able to find this video :( They decided that it can be a great idea to evaluate customers demand for device (as well for the first period of promotion) and insisted that the project has to be presented on Kickstarter.
We deeply apologize for any inconvenience those, who were waiting the device in retail. With respect to Kickstarter, we are happy to receive any support and help, but if you have any doubts in quality of the final product, we recommend you to wait until first reviews appear and official sales launched. As we planned before, official sales will start in December, immediately after the shipment of devices, which were pre-ordered by crowdfunding investors.
P.S. In the nearest future we will receive more complex prototypes of the device. We will make our best to publish a video review with several games testing.

When will the Kickstarter campaign begin, are we talking weeks away or months away?

That's conv... I mean unfortunate.

Good luck. :)

I wish they would've implemented your suggestion of the e-ink display with the plastic keycaps, @vcoleiro1.

Here's some more info they just tweeted. Looks like the Kickstarter is this month, no doubt around or just after E3 - my guess anyway

Are we talking weeks or months away for the Kickstarter?

@vcoleiro1 This month

Will there be a functioning prototype demoed?

I wonder if they will actually launch the PGS Kickstarter this month as they said , only 13 days remaining

As recently as the other day, they still are saying this month.

How does this thing actually close with enough room for the buttons/joystick? And is it something nokia has a patent on?

How is there a battery in this thing?

How do you press the buttons/nubs(?) at each top corner of the bottom screen?

Are the side-holes grips or vents?

Sticks drop down when you close it, and pop up when you open it. Buttons are low enough that they should be out of the way

Magic.

Just a guess: With your thumbs. I would prefer them on the back, and hope they think about their placement some more (and even better, actually make a mock up and try it).

The sticks are telescopic, they retract into the body. Don't shoot the messenger, just restating what they say in their specs :)

I see Rygd already answered.

Ever heard of telescopic sticks? Me neither

On the pictures the slim model has a concave intrusion for the sticks, whereas the phat model has something that extends beyond the surface.

Its not like its the plastic that bends.

If you are talking about what is shown in the top picture you posted, we already gave you the official answer. No clue how they plan on actually doing it.
[doublepost=1466175327,1466175172][/doublepost]Oh, and the side holes are most likely for speakers.
[doublepost=1466175489][/doublepost]And I missed the Nokia thing you added. Not sure what you are asking about, or if it is patented, not that I care if they are using something that is without permission.
(Edit: Nokia is not the first company I think of when it comes to landscape sliders. All of mine are Motorolas. Either way, don't know or care about patents for that either.)

I see PGS Labs released a teaser 4 hours ago.

It still says June for the Kickstarter (at the end). So within 12 days then

Remember this ugly contraption where you could screw in a "joystick".
Hey, I had an original Gravis Gamepad, with my frst PC around 1993. The flat Original Gamepad with just 4 Buttons, no shoulders or anything fancy. Had the same D-Pad and the same stick like the Pro, I used the stick alot and I broke the D-Pad through it even if it was a very sturdy construction. But the additional forces through the little stick were to much. But overall, the basic Idea was pretty clever. You even could use the Gravis Gamepad 180° turned as an leftie-Gamepad (changable though a little switch).
