Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

Yeah, my first ARM coding was in BBC BASIC assembler on an Archimedes!

Edit: For any chance for my code to work, you'll need to be in a graphical mode first. Try adding:
5 MODE 1

Daily average over the last 7 days was 4 Pre-orders a day

Note: Daily figures also include converted Pre Pre-orders. As such , actual new pre-orders would be a little less than quoted figures.

I think it'll be a long time until Pyra2Pyra multiplayer stuff is possible, if at all (never really happened on Pandora).
Connecting a gamepad via USB to the Pyra and this one to a screen via HDMI to play stuff together shouldn't be a problem for long though.
Does someone know if Pyra works as an HID at release? If yes, you could use a second Pyra as the controller although this wouldn't be very cost efficient, you could also use a Pandora for this btw.

what about Hase? it's not direct pyra2pyra, but it's mediated through a server...

Re: The russians using pencils in space

Well, bullshit is a bit harsh, but I believe the story to be apocryphal. The graphite powder released when you use a pencil turns out to not be great news for circuit boards and computers in a confined space without gravity. Perhaps lead pencils don't powder so easily, but I've never knowingly used one of those so I'm unsure.
@rygD: It is an Urban legend only? Did not know that.
Both space programs used pencils (possibly grease pencils). Space pens were created by an independent company (possibly with additional funding from the government). I don't remember what happened after that. I am probably leaving a bunch of things out.
[doublepost=1464489150,1464488632][/doublepost]
There was no government funding to create the pen. Both space programs switched over to using it pretty quickly.

FWIW, that 736th preorder was made just after midnight, German time. But it shouldn't affect the averages much either way. Thanks for your work!

Thanks, I adjusted the figures.

So we are at the 30 day mark and from that period have gotten 735 pre-orders (diluted a little with the converted pre-preorders)

Worthless comparison , but as a guide the GPD WIN managed 1750 orders in 60 days. The way things are going at around 4 pre-orders a day, the PYRA will have about 855 or so pre-orders at that same 60 day mark.

Probably get a bump in sales also after the fully operational prototype is shown in a proper video. But, I fully suspect a lot of people are waiting on the Pyra to release before jumping in, so we should get a number of sales at that point. For example, a poll was done on Dingoonity for the WIN, it showed over 50% of people were waiting on it to be released and to view reviews before jumping in or not. So there is probably a lot of people waiting I suspect for the Pyra also.

I don't like gpd product I got. Hard as hell to update and it crashes all the time. Can't wait for the pyra.

vcoleiro1: Was that necessary? I told you where to check. Do that next time or the bunny gets it!

@Lightkey

Somehow I missed that link in your post a few pages back. I will use it from now on.

On a different note, I'm surprised ED hasn't removed the 2GB versions of the Pyra yet. There's no point keeping them there.

I think ED have two reasons to keep the 2GB Version.

* The 4GB Version is not tested so no one is able to say if it works properly. It would be not so good to remove the 2GB Version now & at the mass - production there is coming a: "Sorry boys&girls. No 4GB, only 2GB"

* If the only difference is the number of populated chips, the additional costs of the 2GB Version is not that high. But there are still some people, which would buy a 2GB Version but not buy the 4GB Version.

[Edit]
PS.: Perhaps it's a good idea when ED create a new "Pyra-show off" section on youtube

When someone new is coming to the youtube channel, the first videos you see are the old Pandora-Videos.
To see the Pyra videos you have to go to the videos-section.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. If I go here: https://www.youtube.com/user/EvilDragon1717

There are Pandora videos up top, but the Pyra ones are just below. I had thought there was some video that auto-played, as there are on a lot of user pages, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

What does VAT mean? I am asking cause the price I don't seem to understand.
(Pyra Standard Edition, 4GB RAM: 529,41 EUR without VAT (=630 EUR incl. VAT))
If I buy a pyra and I live in USA do I pay the price with the VAT or the price without it? This is what is keeping me from reordering. Help please!

I've ordered several things from Europe, even from Dragonbox shop several times... I've never had to pay the VAT price.

VAT is the European sales tax, much like state taxes are applied to store bought items in the US. It's not applied to people who live outside Europe. However we're "supposed" to claim it in our tax returns, including all the other things bought off the internet that most people never claim. In other words don't worry about it.

AFAICT, you can import up to $1000 worth of electronics without paying import tax in the USA, so yeah, don't worry about it.
