Game Boy Zero... impressive hack!

Meh. I have seen things like this for a while. As a hardcore Game Boy fan I was never impressed. Mildly interesting, but I have grown bored of case mods of this sort. Not sure when this was made, but there are many aftermarket parts out there that would have made things easier and preserved original hardware.

Actually, there are so many copies of the work of others that one of the important people that created the whole GB modding scene has decided he will stop selling the main parts (cases, buttons, backlights). I wish I had known before he decided that, because he had a lot of things that I wanted to buy from him. Anyway, this is a discussion for another thread.

I tried to do this with a game boy advance sp case, but I couldn't get the screen I bought to fit in the case.

Not impressed then? Fair enough... I thought he'd done a nice job of it...
I like what he did with that game cart, and integrating the SD slot into it (although perhaps it had been even better if the OS had been on an internal micro-SD, with just games on that slot port, meaning it was genuinely removable) FWIW.

The screen used for these mods are bigger than the Game Boy screen they replaced. Remember the screen cover things on GBs? They cut the area around the screen where that day to get it to fit. (You may have already known that, so this is more for people that aren't too familiar with them.)

Did you end up using that screen for something, or is it still sitting around?

As someone who has no clue about console modding, I found it pretty cool, especially turning a module into an SD-Card "reader" (I know that its just passing on signals). There are only two things that bug me, the color of the additional action buttons, and the lower right corner of the screen being (minimaly) obscured by the case.
The label for the modified game module looks good - does anybody no more about that > is it just printed out with a regular printer or is there more to it ?
