or congratulate me, I am not sure. I have been looking for a decent price for years. now I dropped 194$ on a cart only... I think that is the most expensive game I have ever bought.

anyone else have similar experiences? ever bought a crazily overpriced game and still felt good about it?

my fiancee is going to kill me...

yes, but I do not own a wii and am a collector. so yeah a bit of insanity is mandatory to collect cartridge games anyway. I know that it's available for gba as well, but that's just not the same thing.

From my point of view, pay for a deciduous piece of plastic when you have free alternatives is "strange". But the money is yours so do with it whatever you want :p&|a:

lol noone here into collecting? there are people who pay way more for originals. I used to collect neogeo mvs carts and those are cheap compared to aes carts. I have all mvs games that I like now, so I stopped. still, I could have gotten the games as roms or on rom collections for various systems for way cheaper but it's not the same as playing them on an actual arcade cabinet.

I also collect psx rpgs... that's an expensive hobby too.

I can't stand inefficient data-storage so I rather try to get rid of physical copies.
Then again, I have a very small apartment and a lot of stuff that can't be physically shrunk (mostly musical instruments and sparring swords/equipment), so no choice anyway.

earthbound is one of my favorite games. that definitely makes it a good purchase.

You have a real, classical cartridge. Yes, expensive. But worth it. However: CEO Satoru passed away not long ago, so prices ARE inflated at the moment...

Hey, you have mother 2, but I have a mother too!

the price is insane though. and that was the cheapest I could find. there were cheaper offers but they wouldn't sell outside of the US and the rest were repros.

I remember a couple years ago (maybe 2012ish) the game was available for about 100$ average. I didn't buy it back then because I thought it was too expensive... I wish I did. some sellers are asking close to 300$ for the cartridge only. How much further will they take it I wonder. well as long as there are idiots like me who actually buy the game at that price I guess the sky is the limit.

I am pissed at those videogame grading dudes. They are sealing good games into transparent boxes and asking 500$ or more so that some nerd can put them on their shelf and look at them. pretty sure this shit is increasing and inflating prices as well. stuff should be played and not looked at.

They are probably just as annoyed that some people put wear on the games when they could be emulating.

Factory sealed, as with all games, are however (increasingly) rare, and there is a huge difference in price between them.

I got FF1 for NES, unsealed. If it had never been played it would probably be worth a lot.

Swords taking up too much space? Banjos getting too spacious?

Introducing, the lightsaber, wub-wub-edition. Shred as you shred, SPACE!

I have Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Saturn. If I'd never opened and played it, I'd probably sell it for a ridiculous amount of money. But since I fell in love with it starting with the free, complete first disk of the game that has been given away as a demo, subsequently bought the full box and played it over and over and over and even in front of what you might call an audience - it would tear my heart if I had to give it away.
Even owned Three Dirty Dwarves, but some '!$?#F4 stole it from the Kollegstufenzimmer. I hate people.

Doesn't hurt anybody, does it. I say if it tingles that blood pumping muscle in a strange and satisfying way, spend all the money you want.

That mvs/aes collecting is a pretty dirty habit as well. Especially with so many Chinese clones to get ripped off by. Funny, they killed SNK and are coming back to annoy collectors. All in all, I concur that your purchase was justified. Perhaps purchased when the market was not in your favor but I will reiterate, it is your money.

I think Pokemon carts are too expensive (there are tons of these available). I won an auction that included Red as a part of a bundle that included a GBA, a case for it, the Pokemon cart and maybe anpther game or two. I paid more than I feel it was worth, but it was still cheaper than what Pokemon games alone usually go for. I don't know where my original cart went, so I feel it was worth it, not that I am really into Pokemon. If I need a bit of quick cash I can always sell it.

I have had a hard time collecting carts since the games I want are plentiful but have a high demand. Zelda ones are really bad, so I was lucky to get most of mine in trades or by doing repairs on "dead" carts. I think my Link's Awakening is my original. If not, it and many of my others are probably at my father's house.

My grandmother used to have most of my NES collection, plus MANY others she bought to add to our collection. No clue what happened to that. Metroid 2 was one of my earlier GB games, so I wanted to get another copy and found that they are slightly pricey here compared to carts from other countries. I don't have my old one so I waited until I saw one kinda cheap and got it.

I am not a collector of the sort where I "gotta catch 'em all", I just want the ones I want to play. Due to the high prices of games that are available in large numbers it may be better to skip dealing with that bullshit and visit ED's other shop and get an everdrive. I really don't understand the point of buying a game to never play it. I also play with my toys, read my comics, play with and look at my cards, etc.

"Oh, this $5000 meal is not to be eaten, it is to add to my collection." Or wine, etc. At least car collectors drive their collection sometimes, I think.

i traded a coworker a copy of the Legend of Zelda collection for Gamecube for Military Madness for TG-16 - that's about a $50 trade there. most expensive in cash transaction was paying $30 for Ikaruga on Dreamcast, and after that, i think $15-20 each for Ico, Rez and Culdcept on PS2. all good games, so no regrets there.

I paid $20 for a copy of Dragon Warrior 2 a few years ago, but that's basically my limit of collectable. If he'd wanted even half what it was actually worth (ie, what other people are willing to pay) I would've walked on by.

most i spent on a single cartridge so far is about $70 for dragon warrior 4 for the nes. I couldnt fork the amount for duck tales 2 english, so i bought the famicom version for $50 :)

xnopasaranx i believe you got the nes version, look into the kazzo (anago app) device for dumping nes/famicom carts. Also a retrode adapter is in the works.

no no, I bought the snes earthbound and I am also going to play it on my us snes. I am all good. just insane that I am willing to pay that much for a snes game.

EDIT: deleted quote of deleted post. glad we were able to discuss this reasonably.

enough about that. have you ever bought overly pricey collectible crap?

Now I feel the itch to aquire "EVO: search for eden" for snes as well... damn. That is at least as expensive as earthbound, but such a good game. maybe I'll get a PAL repro instead sometime. I will always feel like it's not the real deal though.

EDIT: deleted unnecessary OT antisexism campaign.

I bought for 2 times AVP boxed... after buying the first edition a month passed and the gold version appeared... took both for full price, that I don't remember but I spent all my money for that

This game does so need a remake.
It's bloody excellent, I finished it some years ago.
