Just powered mine up for what is probably the first time in more than 5 years! Rediscovered Lacuna and how incredibly addictive I find it and am wondering what everyone else's best pics of the GP32 era are

Frank Lankes games were good! Giro, Arcano, and I know there's one more by him I can't recall off the top of my head...

Also, JBB's Bolcataxian and Bolcatoid were SOLID arcade fun :)

I'm gonna leave it at that, too many to list...

*EDIT: ELENA, That's the name of Frank Lankes other game... check out his android game EEEE too

I remember playing a lot of The Minigame Project, GPFinalWar, GPWar, gpSpout, GPSquares, Gyroball, Scorched GP, and Vertical. Also Nazca's games.

There's also the classic Homebrew Reviews website to give you ideas.

I really liked Blue Angelo. It was a big platformer-RPG with an interesting atmosphere, good play mechanics, and great graphics and music. Although it did have a few little bugs (e.g. the in-game world map was actually a bit incorrect). It was a true GP32 original which used the system to its full potential. Unfortunately, it came out really late in the system's lifespan (it was the last commercial game released by over a year, if I recall), and was expensive. It's unfortunate that no true port has since been made to any other system (I haven't played the GBA version, but its graphics are much worse).

Also, Bolcataxian may have been the most well-designed top-down space shooter I've ever played 'till this day. It started really slow and simple, but built up to fast and powerful, with a wonderful level-up system. It is really unfortunate that it was never completed (if I recall, that was because the creator never received the prize that Craig promised him for winning the coding competition).

The translation also was horrible, I remember I wanted to take a look into the files and see if they can be fixed with a Hex Editor.

Blue Angelo was never released to the GBA, so it's a GP32 exclusive. I like it a lot better than Metroid, to be honest :)

There were a lot of good GP32 games... I remember Numo, Gianas Return, Electronica (or similar name), etc.
Many of them not ported to any other system and often no sourcecode released... that's why I really would love to see some emulator running properly!

Those were the screenshots Shibuya released during development.
As far as I know, it doesn't exist though. There's not a single website or trace of the GBA ROM anywhere on the internet, it's also not in included in ANY .dat files.

Hey Gang!

I'm recently back too...

Sadly I'm now on a BLU+ so Balloon and Balloon wont play :-(

Nice to see some people are still around!

I know, was choked about numo and balloon and balloon not playing on BLU+, but fluked out n got a BLU & 128MB SMC for cheap brand new pretty much!

OK, I said I got a new GP32 to mess around on and I'm having a blast, loving playing through Dungeon and Guarder and Tomak... Why oh why did I ever abandon the GP32 for the PSP :-(

Back in the day I had a FLU so never bothered, This has me wondering... Was there ever a definitive way to tell if you had a BLU or a BLU+?

(Taking advantage of having gp32 people to talk to :)

Best Wishes!

Space

Edited for waffle - as I definitely have a BLU+ :-(

*heart this thread*

I found SMCs are hard to come by, and my GP32 units seem to just eat the cards; get 1-2 uses out, and poof.. dead. It costs too much to try :(

Mind you, something like phodrive is needed, but a multifw (depending which one) should have something for you to transfer with... I keep an old multicard reader that won't work with any of the new sd's around just for it's smc :p
