amsynth 1.7.0.1

preview1.png

amsynth is an analog modelling (a.k.a virtual analog) synthesizer.

It mimics the operation of early analog subtractive synthesizers with
classic oscillator waveforms, envelopes, filter, modulation and effects.

The aim was to keep the synth easy to use, so you can more easily get the
sounds you want ;-)

There are currently several different ways to run amsynth:
* stand-alone application using JACK, ALSA or OSS
* DSSI plug-in
* LV2 plug-in

Thanks, I could spend hours playing with this happily.

One note, I needed to set my xfce panel to autohide, else I couldn't see the bottom of the window.  Shame the Pandora doesn't have the xfce4 smart hide setting, where panels are always visible until a window comes into their area.

Great work Canseco - does this work with USB MIDI, by any chance?  I guess I'll spend some time to find out .. ;)

Okay I've been jamming with it for the last 30 minutes, got MIDI working with .. I guess .. OSS (/dev/midi1) .. the latency is pretty bad, I'm finding.  This is on my First-Batch Pandora though, so maybe there's something to be done with the CPU speed to improve the situation .. have any of you noticed latency differences between qjackctl and OSS raw MIDI device usage?  Maybe there's a way to tweak it to get better latency. ..

EDIT: one more thing - it doesn't look like amsynth shows up in the menu properly .. I can't find it in any sub-menu, but I am able to run it directly with PNDManager .. can someone else confirm it creates a menu item?  I may only have selected "Desktop icon" for install ..

It's there in my Multimedia submenu (although note, since its name begins with a lower-case 'a' it is listed after all uppercased initial items).  You can check where you installed it by looking for the pnd in your pandora/ folder subfolders on your SD card - it will need to be in either pandora/menu or pandora/apps.  If it's in pandora/desktop, it'll only appear on the desktop pinboard.

I didn't test the new version with USB MIDI, but it worked better with ALSA MIDI last time i tried with my AIR Mini 32.
