Pyra OS Name

PyrOS, Pyrian or Debyra. @FaeMinx, I don't like the idea to have an OS with a drug related term :p

The Pandora OS didn't have a name other than I guess Angstrom when Angstrom was still a thing.  After that we just called it by its version name; Zaxxon, SZ etc.  I agree we need a version name series, rather than a single name for the OS.  For the sake of it, I vote for Monsters Inc. monsters; Sulley, Mike, Roz, Boggs etc.
It had about 5 different ones, all used to reference one thing. Ångström, or variants thereof, zaxxon, super zaxxon, firmware, etc. each with their own slew of problems.
People know what debian is, and as long as things are done that way, there is a double benefit to going that route.

The release needs a name, and pure numbers can be hard to remember. The release manager gets to decide, i'm just making humorous suggestions.

"silly walks" baby's first steps in what can only lead to "suggestive stride" and maybe others of that moniker. Bonus for writing a story with the names, silly, stride, means, wonky, walks.

Against that, having both version numbers and names can make it hard to remember whether Sarge came before or after 3.0, I guess. The Pandora scheme at least had a definite sequence to the names, so you would know Yar's Revenge came after Zaxxon, even if it wouldn't be clear which number release a name corresponds to.
I'm honestly not clear why the Pandora didn't get beyond version 1.5 (Zaxxon being v1 and SZ being 1.5), but I suspect Angstrom not putting another mainline out after the drop we took has something to do with it. We're unlikely to have that problem with armhf debian.

As in "fool's gold"? doesn't seem like a good name to me.
I don't care about nicknames (plus I said "Pyrite", not "fool's gold").

Wikipedia says (no surprises here):

Pyrite is the most common of the sulfide minerals. The name pyrite is derived from the Greek πυρίτης (pyritēs), "of fire" or "in fire",[7] in turn from πύρ (pyr), "fire".[8] In ancient Roman times, this name was applied to several types of stone that would create sparks when struck against steelPliny the Elder described one of them as being brassy, almost certainly a reference to what we now call pyrite.

This may also not be news to most of you, but is a response to "fool's gold":

Despite being nicknamed fool's gold, pyrite is sometimes found in association with small quantities of gold.

Also, it is just really interesting in many ways, including the shapes it forms and the shine.

This version of the OS:  PyrOne  "Peer One"

Next version:  PyrTwo  "Peer Two"

Spell the primary version - yes there could be dot versions too - but don't spell those.  So...

PyrOne.1  "Peer One dot one"

PyrOne.2

Of course the initial beta OS versions needs names:

PyrNaught.01  "Peer not dot zero one".

The naming privilege for the Pyra's operating system SHOULD be left to ED and the few individuals who are actually doing the work of designing the OS.  No votes, no arguing through endless threads.  This should be their right as the ones doing the work.  If they choose to take any of this input - cool.  But their choice.
