Pixels

My first thought when the trailer started playing was: "Those are not pixels, those are voxels!"
Mine was "oh great, they are going to have yet another movie using stereotypes to make fun of people".  I will watch the trailer from the site in a bit, I watched the one on TV earlier.

Do they have to get permission to use Donkey Kong and such?

Yes, they certainly have permission to use any of the ip that's portrayed in the movie.

Reminds me of the Raiders of the Lost Arcade Futurama episode! I need to re-watch the early seasons of that show, it's been too long...
As do I.  I watched it a lot early on, and near the end and missed a bunch in the middle.  For me a lot of it wouldn't be re-watching, but seeing them for the first time.

Edit:  I completely forgot to comment on the episode.  Within a second or two of the ad starting I was reminded of that episode, and was wondering if they were doing something like that.  It seems to fit since I think a lot of the Adam Sandler stuff is intentionally cheesy in that way.

Why don't they make a Metroid movie then?  I thought a big part of the problem was fear of something like the SMB movie.  I think Metroid can be done right if given to the proper people and gets a decent budget.

Yes...imho...The following movies were good:

Funny People (2009)

You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008)

Click (2006)

The Waterboy (1998)

The Wedding Singer (1998)

Happy Gilmore (1996)

Bulletproof (1996)

I think Grandma's Boy was a good one (produced by his studio, although he didn't star in it).

Movie might be a really like/really hate flick.

Can you still get your money back if you walk out due to the suckage of said movie?
I don't go to theatres for movies anymore since the cost of a couple tickets is more than the cost to buy it.  Add in the cost of refreshments, or that they should be paying me for the lack of cleanliness and the people I have to deal with, and the other options (buy, rent, wait for it to show up on TV) work better for me.

There have been a few movies I have wanted to go see, including a couple this year, but I haven't done it.  I am not really looking forward to the new Termintor film, although I like most of the series, but I think I would pay to see that before I pay for this one.

I am not a fan of Adam Sandler, yet I have seen most of his movies, and really like a couple of them.

Sandler has a few gems in his roster. I loved Waterboy and Happy Gillmore. Pixels looks interesting because of the gaming spin, but I'm not rushing to see it. If my son wants to go, we'll take him, but otherwise I'll catch it on download at some point.
