Cool! Is there any chance of getting SGX drivers working in Pandian?

Have a copy up and running here... looks *very* good.  I was thinking it was time to get over to Jessie, and here you've

done all the work to make it easy.

The Y/Z keyboard position issue is back.  I have .pndXmodmap diffs:

diff -r1.1 .pndXmodmap
12c12
< keycode  21 = equal
---
> keycode  21 = equal NoSymbol equal
41c41
< keycode  51 = backslash
---
> keycode  51 = backslash NoSymbol backslash

But otherwise everything is working very nicely.  I'm not sure the Pandora button is working, although I seem

to see the needed binding in the fluxbox config.  Similarly, not sure yet that the shoulder buttons give me shift/alt,

which made moving oversized windows a little bit tedious.  I'll report back when I have solid details.

But the short version is that this looks like a very nice packaging of Debian Testing.  Awesome!  I will try

to move my whole environment over to it and live with it as my primary platform.  Your Wheezy version has been

my main workhorse for media listening as well as at times my email, RSS, and Usenet reading platform.

Oh, and my main platform whenever I travel, with Iceweasel to get into all my other access.  I look forward to

moving forward onto the updated Debian platform!

Andy

For some reason, /bin/ping is not suid root, so doesn't work for mortals.

I copied Zaxxon's /etc/asound.conf, and mplayer2 is running OK for me.

(It's incredibly convenient that all my binaries from /usr/local on Wheezy

come right over and work.)

Yup... this is all looking good.  Very good indeed!  Thanks for all your

excellent work.

Yes, Mark3 is solid.  I've converted to using it as my primary OS for the Pandora.

For anybody using something based on libao, the /etc/libao.conf which matches

the ALSA config is:

default_driver=alsa
# dev=hw:1
dev=pcm.softvol
quiet

When I use an external USB headphone amp, I switch dev's.  Otherwise this uses

the soft ALSA sink which you'll need to get soft volume control as well as software

rate adaptation.

The only other minor issue is a number of script just assume gawk is there, quickly

fixed by installing it by hand.

hmm, this is standard debian, until now i dont have any problems with that ( okay, until now i dont have any prog that uses /dev/ping )

i tried the qmmp-player and it worked for me, even without asound.conf ;) seems to be a problem of bluemindo

According to the Y/Z stuff, i take a look at these in the next few days. Maybe i change the default keyboard layout, because there is no other keyboard on the pandora ;)

Cool, thanks for the hint. I will create an pandian-audio package to support this settings :)

So i will also grab the alsa-config of MARK2

And before i forget:

Thanks :D that was the main idea ;)

If i found the time, i will implement the next progs on pandian. One big point is the rewrite of pndevmapperd and the support of different "profiles" on the pandora ( like android )

Very nice :D

Works like a charm.

Missing the battery status in the fluxbox bar and could not find a way to make mplayer2 works with anything but x11 video output, so no scaling...

Thanks you !!

well, on my desktop i use fdpowermon.. lets see.. ah damn, can not be installed ( package acpi is missing )

lets see if we can found another power monitor which is wm independent

The Y/Z keyboard position issue is back.  I have .pndXmodmap diffs:
The keymap is okay for me ( the Y is on the Y on the keymat ) i think you would like to have the german keyboard ( qwertz ) ?

I spend more time on it,

stability is here, not a single crash in a few days of non stop installations and downloads,

It's now my main OS.

Thanks man ;)

This looks good but I can't get either the internal or external USB wifi adaptors working. Anyone got any ideas?

I think the internal wifi is dead anyway as it doesn't show up in any operating system any more, but the USB stick usually works.

ifconfig only shows the loopback interface and enabling USB from the menu might not even be doing anything for all I know.

Anybody know the commands I need for enabling and checking the USB. Are they the same as normal Debian because lsusb doesn't seem to work either??

I'm getting absolutely nowhere with this :(

I know the Pandora scripts are in /usr/pandora and enabling the USB Host should be ./op_usbhost.sh but that doesn't seem to do anything.

Ive also tried the built in wifi but get back an I/O error when I use ./op_wifi.sh.

Anyone got any ideas??

When I booted from a debian wheezy "live" usb stick recently I couldn't get either the internal or external wifi on my laptop working due to missing firmware.  Could that be the issue here?  Perhaps you can copy the firmware from /lib/firmware in SuperZaxxon?

I'm using USB Ethernet no prob... just "sudo modprobe ehci-hcd" and I was good.

This uses the debian repo correct?   I am looking to use pixiewps which is written in C, but relies on a modified version of reaver....which runs on debian.  Can you also use the normal pandora repo for emulators and packages or is this a one or the other thing?

Yes Pandian uses the standard Debian armhf repository.  And a double No for the Pandora repo. As the SuperZaxxon angstrom (opkg) repository and most likely the majority of PNDs on the PND repository are compiled to soft-float ( armel ) and Debian Jessie is done to hard-float (armhf). This essentially makes everything binary incompatible and thus won't run. Other thing to note is that there is no hard-float version of the powervr SGX driver, as this is closed source and proprietary driver and Ti shows no interest in making hard-float drivers for their old technology, thus Pandian will not have working 3D acceleration. If the armel version of Debian Jessie was used, it would be possible to hack in the PND system and working 3D acceleration and that is if someone with the skills could get it to work properly. The biggest bonus of Pandian is that armhf compiled programs generally run faster than armel since they don't need to software emulate floating point instructions. If you don't need 3D acceleration or PNDs Pandian is still an excellent choice.

Slackware is currently the only alternative OS I can think of that has both PND support and working SGX drivers.

Interesting, I saw that when looking through the slackware thread and noticed that this kernel was armhf instead of armel.  I thought perhaps one of you enterprising folks may have devised a layer/emulator that would allow pnd/armel support.

My experience with debian is pretty focused with backtrack/kali linux. So forgive me if this is a stupid question, but am I correct thinking that without 3d acceleration any debian emulators will be shit?

Side note, I could always throw pandian on an SD card and boot it whenever I need it similar to a live distro (or am I missing something)?
