What is the leftmost connector?

I assume next to is eSATAp ... never heard of that before, so no idea if I will ever have a use for it other than using it as an USB-port ... but who knows. This will be full USB 3.0 (5 Gbit/s), right?

Is there an overview somewhere what features are currently planned? I think whatever information I have in my head is obsolete ...
from left to right (CPU side of the board): Micro USB 3.0, eSATA/USB2 combo (I guess the p stands for powered, as the power is taken from the USB part of the port), USB 2.0 + MicroUSB 2.0 (on the keyboard side), Audio (+ Headset), MicroHDMI
 
The esata will be powered?


There is no 12 V on the board or is there?

If things did not change, then all USB ports will be 2.0 (480 Mbit/s) except for the micro-USB OTG, which will be 3.0 (5 Gbit/s). The reason for that is that  the OMAP5 only has one USB 3.0 connection, all the others are 2.0 -- so it makes most sense to make the best use of that one USB 3.0 by using something bi-directional (so it can be both a fast host and a fast device), and the only bi-directional USB 3.0 port is the micro-USB one.

So the USB+eSATAp combo port is USB 2.0 combined with what I assume will be SATA 2.0 (3 Gbit/s). Using a cable like this: http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=474 you can attach something like a laptop DVD writer or hard disk and reach their max speeds.

The esata will be powered?

No, it will be 5V only, like on most laptops. Unless you want to directly attach a desktop hard disk, that should be no problem.
 
 If all Pyra will delifered whit a Aluminium Case, i think the Case Company wouldnt be amused because they have all the work whit the Case Design, and cant sell the Plastik Cases to ED...

I would prefer a toughter Plastik Case..

Expect the lack of a Camera, the Pyra seems like a great Smartphone to mee.. hopefully it fits on my Jeans then, otherwise i would wear Baggy Pants (like the last few yeahrs)..
 
Maybe the esata/usb2.0 port could allow some more current than the usb spec allows. Something around 1A.


My tv has such a port to allow usb hdds to function without a y-cable.

I remember now, at my PS2 Time, the Dual Shock Controller vibratet a lot when Sin Attacks in Final Fantasy X, then i deakitivatet this feature..

Could be usefull, if it dosnt over used in games..

So correct me if I'm wrong but there is a dummy PCB for the CPU with on it a connector that is connected to another board that can hold the real CPU and thats connected again to another board (the EVM) what is this EVM?

There is a board carrying the real CPU (Evaluation Board, = EVM) which is produced by TI for people who want to play around with or test their processors prior to using them in a product.

That board has various connectors on it for external hardware.

There is a one-off board produced by ED and co which brings all these connections together into a handy ribbon cable

There is then another custom board which splits all those connections on the ribbon cable out to match the connector positions on the Pyra's CPU board.

That, in turn is connected to a Pyra mainboard, which is very close to the final production design.

What's the complicated square group on unused solder pads on the board connected to the EVM?

The board on the EVM seems to be the same as the one on the Pyra, just upside down (See the two black connectors on either side). The square solder arrays should be for the SoC.

That's correct. The EVM is, as mentioned in the posts above, the official development board by TI.

As you also might now, the CPU board is not finished yet - only the mainboard mostly is.

Using the CPU Dummy which connects to the EVM and plugs onto the mainboard (like the real CPU Board will do later), we can test that all connections between the CPU PCB and the Mainboard are working fine.

Ah. One board design with a EVM--> ribbon cable converter on one side and a ribbon cable --> Pyra mainboard on the other?

Tasty Sandwich. ^^

So the CPU board will sit upside down onto the big mainboard of the Pyra, SoC facing downwards to the MoBo? Ok, makes sense and now I can see it will fit without wasting space through the distance of the daughter board connectors.
