Port Requests

Shadowgrounds?!?!? On OpenPandora?? That would really cool. Now I have to read the port tutorials and learning openGL and then I start porting it. ;)

And thanks linuxbochs for Aquaria. :)

Is it maybe possible to port the Zandronum engine for Doom on the Pandora ?

Here's some Infos:

Zandronum is a client-server multiplayer-oriented source port based on Skulltag.

Zandronum modernizes Doom, the game that changed the gaming world.

One of many features in Zandronum that modernizes Doom, is the support of the OpenGL renderer.

OpenGL, based from GZDoom, gives the environment a new fresh new look and also has support for 3D objects.

Additionally, Zandronum has improved multiplayer support and dynamic servers.

Zandronum supports up to 64 players, and clients can freely join any game servers at any time without having

to wait for the host to launch a connection - - similarly in ZDoom. Also, Zandronum has an abundance of game modes.

Such game modes can be a simple cooperative game, invasion, deathmatch, or maybe capture the flag with four teams.

Plus, Zandronum is very active and always moving forward. Zandronum is always active in both developments,

community events, and the games hosted on various servers. These are just some of the many features that Zandronum

continues to modernize the game that changed the gaming world.

Zandorum Homepage:  http://zandronum.com/

IWAD's that Zandorum supports are here:  http://wiki.zandronum.com/IWAD

Zandorum Wiki Main Page: http://wiki.zandronum.com/Main_Page

Source Code, The source is available on Bitbucket:  https://bitbucket.org/Torr_Samaho/zandronum

By the way of the great possibility to play online against or with other Pandora Players   ,

there are so many Modification (Mod's) or Total Conversions (TC's) we could play on the Pandora.

For example "Megaman 8-bit deathmatch" :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUemLoGkCK8

or many other Game modes.

I'm playing this sometimes on my PC and it would be easily to Host a Multiplayer Server with Zandorum + Doomseeker

on the PC , maybe with a Standard Password for Pandora Users so that other PC Gamers with external Mouse

and Keyboard could not join :p  , because of the gaming fairness .

Anyway, even the Singleplayer Mod's / TC's would be realy great on the Pandora and makes much fun.

So if a port to OpenGL-ES isn't possible or difficult, maybe a Software render Port would also be nicely ,

some Modifications and the Multiplayer should work than as well.

Greetings, Shao
Hum, don't know if this has been noted before, but this soft use FMod, so I'm afraid that's a nogo for it.

hum...

probably DirectX and the rest of the usual problems, but that's nice anyway...

edit: hum, since it's based on Q3 and there's a MacOSX version, I guess it also support openGL...
I pasted this in another thread, but this project seems to be the most promising work on JK2 and JKA:

https://github.com/Razish/OpenJK

They already have it running on multiple platforms. No GLES2 renderer, yet, though..

They have used some code from ioquake3 to fix network bugs. Maybe they can use some code from the ioquake3 modular render system, so we can use the quak3 open gles ports on jedi knight as a starting point.

Anyone had a look at this already?

cool, I just finished playing through Shadowgrounds Survivor.

Didn't know those games had been open sourced.

I think the Pandora can handle Shadowgrounds, maybe not survivor with Physx.  Are you working on it dummi?  if not I will have a go.

Or can do it together.  Or race ;)

Shadowgrounds works good in stereo 3d, by the way.

they also mention using ioquake for some shader things...

@DREDD I'm not working on shadowgrounds. it was a joke, sorry. No time to wotk through tutorials and learning OpenGL\ES.

Would be cool to give something back to the community, but in near future this will not happen. :(

But i'm excited to see and play your port. :)

I'd love to see a port of Gourmet Recipe Manager... I use it on my linux box, but having it portable would be nice.
Gourmet Recipe Manager just uses Python and GTK - it's relatively easy to get it running on the Pandora (I just tried it, and imported recipes for Chocolate Cake from a MealMaster file, and now I'm hungry).

I'll make a PND of it after the Coding Compo is over, if no-one else has done it before then. For anyone wanting to give porting this a try, what I did (using the C/C++/Py Development Tools PND), was "easy_install SQLAlchemy", "easy_install PIL", and "python setup.py install" for Gourmet's setup.py file. After that, running 'gournmet' produces an error related to the recbox.ico file - I just changed the code to refer to recbox.png instead, which probably isn't right, but it got it running. There's other stuff that can be added (mplayer (?), modules for spellchecking and importing to pdf, etc), but it works without them.
Freemon messaged me and said that he doesn't have time to work on Pandora stuff right now, so if anyone else could please take a look at this.

thanks,

Christopher.

Would like to have NixNote (Evernote clone for linux...) on Pandora....

Bit confusing as NixNote was called NeverNote before....

http://nevernote.sourceforge.net/

Here's page with downloads...

https://sourceforge.net/projects/nevernote/files/?source=navbar

Written in Java.....

Thanks!
An alternative would be Everpad https://github.com/nvbn/everpad which is actually an Evernote client written for linux. I've loaded Evernote via Android, but would prefer a client for Angstrom. The web version works, but a native client would be great.

I briefly checked, it may be possible, but all these python dependencies are annoying... :p

at least it seems to use gtk2.

Hi,

I posted about getting NixNote onto the Pandora on the NixNote forum....the developer responded here:

https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/nevernote/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=364&p=1528#p1528

He says:

Re: Can I install/run NixNote on Pandora

As long as there is a Java JVM then technically any Java program should work, but in this case there is another problem. The problem would be Jambi which is a Qt / Java bridge that NixNote depends upon. Jambi is very platform specific and I don't know how much effort it would be to port it. Given the relatively small amount of RAM I doubt you'd have good results even if you did get it to compile.
Do you think Jambi can be ported to Pandora?.....

Jambi seems like a beast to compile... lots of other packages needed before being able to do so. Not likely easily feasible on Pandora.
I was afraid of that...given developer's comments....dang!......

Oh well, guess I can always use Evernote in web browser.....  ;)

Thanks for checking......

Meanwhile, another program I'd like to see on the Pandora is a BrickBreaker game like the one I had on the Blackberry I used to have at work.....

Unless I've missed it, I don't think there's one available.....or did I miss it?.....
