I have been away for quite a spell. So if these matters have been discussed them my apologies for lack of research.

I am excited about a Pandora successor if that is what this device will be.

To me the pinnacle of performance would be if this machine could flawlessly emulate : Gamecube, Saturn, PS2, Jaguar,3DO,XBOX, Dreamcast and all N64 games. Sort of like a portable HYPERSPIN interface on a handheld. However even Hyperspin w/windows cannot emulate all of those emulators/roms perfectly but comes very close. Same with XBMC but even on a lesser scale from my experiences.

As I said, if something of this magnitude could be on a portable PC/handheld device then I am jaw dropped

Is ED confirmed to be doing a talk? I thought these sneak peeks were just going to come from people wandering up to ED's stand and having a natter.

Edit: To answer CCF: Nope, maybe, possibly, maybe, perhaps, nope, hopefully and with a bit of luck.

GC: probably not

Saturn: unless a new emulator comes out... probably not fast enough.

PS2: not a chance.

3DO: should be no problem

Jaguar: depends on the emulators more than the machine

Xbox: certainly not

Dreamcast: probably should be fine

N64: compatibility will be a matter of emulator, not hardware.

s ED confirmed to be doing a talk
Yes, it's in the list of conferences on the fosdem site.

Okay, there will be the following:

1) "official" video taken with the FOSDEM equipment. When this will be available? No idea, might take weeks.

2) live streaming of the material which will later on form the "official" video. The stream will be available under http://streaming.fosdem.org/. It might not work well though or sound might be broken. This is the first year where FOSDEM makers try to record/stream *everything*.

3) ED just told me that he plans to record the talk himself using a good microphone. He said that he plans to cut it later in the evening and upload it as soon as he has a well working internet connection, so maybe sometime tomorrow EDs high quality video should be available.

I think the streaming worked very well overall. I was quite impressed with the video quality actually, and the Picture in Picture stuff also worked well. (though I think projector inside live feed worked better than live feed inside projector)

I have do have a suggestion for future events though; it would be helpful to have a runner in each room with a portable mic, so that audience feedback can be recorded clearly.

I'd also recommend ensuring all speakers have a mic. (or if that's already the case that the levels be adjusted as needed) I when I first started watching the stream during "The rise and fall of open source gaming projects" I could hear you clearly, but I was having trouble hearing Fabian at first because his voice was coming though at a significantly lower volume.

That only works if the audience feedback only consists of short simple questions. The audience participation in the "rise and fall" panel was much more along the lines of an open discussion. Having the presenter repeat everything the audience was saying there would have been completely impractical. Also Fabi had to ask audience members to speak up several times, so giving them a mic would make it a lot easier for the presenter to hear them too.

There was just no "real" mic available in the room, just a tiny one lying on the desk in front of the supposed speaker. Having some runner would be inefficient in the setup because there was just no *space* for this.
