Stats of upgrades

The text file is probably the raw file produced by the survey itself. In order to put that into a Calc spreadsheet you'd need to eliminate the lines with "------" in it, then come up with a separator (I prefer tab or pipe) and import it. Not a whole lot of work if you know what you're doing.

In other words, Craig's file is fine. It's knowing what to do with it that's important.
Probably is easier just to change file extension from .txt to .csv, open it like it is in calc(/excel/similar) and change it with active preview what's going on... "import screen" usually works great.

After that make some data sorting, so that similar data raws come close each other. And THEN swap messed blocks.

ED, since you got the 270 and 200euros lists, why don't you give us the rough numbers for theses shares?
Because that would probably also require some manual cleanup which would also have to be redone if/when the full list arrives.

Besides, what would it change? We know that all of craigs "missing" orders are/were 500+/~500 so what difference does it make exactly if you know, that 20% upgraded for 270 or that it was 33% or 22.54%?
Because, if most ppl voted for e.g. 270€, the rest of us should follow it. It is called democracy.

But, because numbers are not final, there is no obligations. However, we shell know where are we standing for.

I am ready to pay 270€ if 80+% of ppl are ready too, but *not* if it is <70%

What are you talking about? You are mixing up things here. An order is an individual purchase and it has nothing todo with voting and democracy. Its like saying that if 51 percent want pasta for lunch then everyone gets pasta. Its just stupid.

And your democracy threshold is super wierd. 80percent is ok but not 69? Huh?

So anyone can make up their own thresholds then and its not democracy, its just a fricking mess.

You do not have to insult. There are things like relative majority, absolute majority etc. Postulates of democracy are very well known, I do not have to teach you those.

Yes, it is weird but it is best we have. But, there are no obligations for anything, again.

It is just civilized, or *smart* way if you prefer:

If it becomes that 80% of people are ready to pay 270€, rest of us do *not* have to pay same price. But obviously, those who pay more will give their pandoras *before* us. So, it is your choice, will you risk to wait more after so many years...

All about Pandora -I'll cite you- its just a fricking mess. So any kind of logic or real numbers are more then welcome.

We know that all of craigs "missing" orders are/were 500+/~500 so what difference does it make
Not at all - for you. So please be gentle and you pay the difference, if it is so irellevant.

FIrst, democracy has nothing to do with majority.

Majority is just one way of "exercising it", and it is far from perfect. There are many other ways.

Then your statement is shocking because you mix "democracy" and "if x% people say this, then we should follow it". It doesn't make any sense at all.

WHat you are describing is the despotism of the majority, certainly not democracy.

And instead of supporting numbers, you should be supporting common sense and values. Freedom being one. It's not because 99% wants to pay 270 euros that the remaining 1% has to follow. The 1% can decide something else fits them better. That's Freedom and that's a hell more important that what you think about democracy.

Why should a preorderer like myself pay more just because others are willing and/or able? Business is not democracy. Forcing me to pay *more* would do nothing but cause me to ask for a refund and I'd miss out on getting the coolest device I've seen in years. And I'm not alone.

For the record, I'm *not* able to pay more; I preordered and paid back at the beginning of 2011. Not quite the same wait as some people from '08, but still quite a wait. While I'm thankful for those willing to go the extra distance to ensure the rest of us get ours, forcing us to pay is a surefire way to ostracize us from the community. We're paying customers, too.

I'm also a bit confused about the survey.  I thought it was a "survey"!  Not a final choice.  It seemed like you all wanted a general idea of what the preorderers wanted and then you were going to set up the store with the final options you decided on.  The survery also didn't specify that the tasks were being split, e.g. that Craig was handling refunds, CC orders, etc.

Anyway, I'm not in the category I would like to be in, but I also thought that Ed had all the info.  Can I switch queues, or do I need to try and work that out with Craig?

It seems the majority voted for not paying to upgrade, so it's a moot discussion anyway. It cannot physically be done. The people that were willing to upgrade will get their emails, pay the difference, and have Pandoras shipped. The people that could not upgrade will be an ongoing problem.

I think it would be proper if people received their Pandora based on date ordered rather than if they upgraded or not.

Base it on seniority.

The person who has waited 2 years should get his/hers before the person who has waited 1 year regardless of upgrade.

It's a bit late for that. Hundreds of units would have to be returned and sent to the people who have been queue jumped the last two years with premiums and extra special premiums.

What about everyone who has not received theirs yet? I am not talking about those sent out already.

But it's not a moot point because I'm now in a category that I wouldn't be in.  I answered the survey based on what I wanted and not what I was willing to do even if I was unhappy about it.  For the record, I'm a second day preorderer from 2008 who had to give up about 3 holidays (BD, Christmas, anniversary) worth of presents to afford this.
