I liked Reagan.  He didn't take any $h!t.  He had a good rapport with Margaret Thatcher and Francois Mitterrand and other world leaders.  Things were shaking up and he sent a powerful message to Gorby and it worked and now we have a better, more unified world.  A Unified Germany is not such a bad thing in my mind now.  Fool me once...cue card!

Great post by moxie and great suggestions by everyone else. Can anyone suggest an 80s pop internet radio stream?

I think it would be nice to see some more 'non-English' music. In the Netherlands "Doe Maar" was huge in the 80's. It had similarities with Beatlemania so definitely music that defined the eighties in the Netherlands . A bit too mainstream for my taste, but not too bad.

In Germany we had Nena and Modern Talking :D And a lot of "Neue Deutsche Welle" (new wave). Also songs of the punk band "Die Ärzte" were very popular (beside this band stills very popular today)

Reagan and Thatcher and their neoliberalist ideology was probably the worst thing of the eighties, with massive cuts in public services, privatization, deregulation, anti-trade-union laws, etc. In the nineties, after the collapse of stalinism, neoliberalism got a further boost thanks to the general feeling of "there is no alternative" and "history has ended". This neoliberalism has lead to a major increase in inequality (rich getting richer, poor getting poorer) and a bubble economy which goes from one crisis to the next. And nearly all politicians are heavily influenced by reaganism and thatcherism, and still see no other cure for the problems neoliberalism created than to apply even more and harsher neoliberalism.

That is one of the great "WTF where they thinking"-moments of popular music video history :)

I suppose you Reagan lovers liked trickle-down economics?  Because Reagan is where that happy horseshit started.
That's just one of my fetishes.

Hey, I was just a dumb kid living in a military town...what'd I know?  He seemed okay to me at the time.  It's not like I voted for the guy - I was too young.

Another blast from the past...as you all tar & feather me... :D ...
