Release KAMI RETRO - half price weekend

I suspect part of the problem is that on some of the pandora touch screens it is really difficult to get a drag  to register properly...

I found the game much easier to play on my original batch Pandora than on my 1gig model, I think the touchscrren is much more sensitivie on the original :)

again i' am with neelix think this is the main problem i know with mine i can drag in one area fine move over a bit a nothing and over more and works fine

I don't really like how it's touch-only. Couldn't you make it so that touch selects an item or guy, and then dpad can be used to move it around? (up to jump) Left hand for dpad and right hand for stylus, that could work.
I made this video to try and demonstrate why it is hard to use a different control system:

Notice how I am simultaneously having to control three different KAMI characters, I am certainly not saying it is impossible to find a way to do this without touch, but it certainly isn't straight forwards when the action starts to get more frantic and you are having to make rapid gestures to control several characters!

I would still keep it touch-based, but use physical buttons to denote the actions instead of gestures (or rather as an alternative for gestures, no need to disable the gestures). So instead of swiping diagonally to jump, you hold dpad up and click the character. Instead of swiping horizontally, you hold dpad left or right and click the character. I don't know how the code looks like, but this seems to be a change that is not huge (basically when a dpad direction is held down, you have to interpret clicks as the corresponding gestures).

The touchscreen on my new 1Ghz is actually damn awesome compared to the older one... touches are registered every time and I'm able to paint almost perfectly in other applications..

Missed touches are not my issue...

@ParadisoShlee Perhaps you could watch the videos I have posed to see if you are not playing the game the way I intended (perhaps the tutorials do not do a good enough job). It would also be interesting to see a video of you playing the game where it goes wrong - if a gesture particle trail is being drawn where you do your swipe, and the swipe goes through (or at least pretty close to) the character, and yet the character doesn't respond, it would appear to be a bug of some description in our code. If the gesture particle doesn't get drawn it would indicate your input is not being picked up; if your input is normally flawless, it could imply that there is an issue with your unit when the GPU is under load, or perhaps a problem that is shown up with the way we take input (we get the input events directly from X11, maybe this is rare and most applications use SDL, I do not know).

Hm, don't know what it is. When I repeat drawing very fast, the little  man is jumping. The gesture particel trail looks correct to me. It's through or near the character.

I usually draw the line a couple of times very fast in hope one of them works.

But with that technique, you can't play more than the first levels :/

Same to me :D

Same here as well.

I don't think it is a problem of the touchscreen, each swipe that I do shows a trail. I can't see that I'm doing anything different from what Steven does in the video ... maybe my swipes are too late, but I doubt it. If I have time I'll test again this evening ... I can't make video though.

I am still very much hoping someone who has a good case of this can make a clear video of the issue happening. As you can see from my videos, a single swipe should be all it takes to move the KAMIs around. There should be no need for frantic swiping if the unit is fully functional.

I'll try today.

Why would I want to make a video of me failing and show the world how much I suck!

*I'll do it in the next few days*

Went ahead and bought Kami Retro, along with PolloPollo and Arora Rift.  I think I have the whole repo on my SD card now, lol.

I finally found the time to create the video.

Here I am - sucking at the second level :)

Same thing happened to me. I finally got it but it took me many many times.  :(   and I don't know what I did right to finally get it. ..I think I doubled swiped....yes yes that was it , I swiped more than once.

I could only get 2/3 stars on level 2 no matter how hard I tried so I guess I suck at this too. On level 3 as of now.

138,794 level 3  got 1/3 stars....yup I suck at this but I love the music :p

As a matter of fact I suck at most video games but I still enjoy the heck out of them !!
