SuperZaxxon v.54 Final has been released!

It's the first rule of troubleshooting -  check the obvious first.

When you are trying to troubleshoot an issue someone else is relaying to you,  anything which isn't explicitly mentioned (or implied by something which is mentioned) is something you need to check.

Did you plug in any USB1.x devices (mice, keyboards, etc) before trying the flash drive? These are unsupported by the full-size socket and can crash the software controlling it EDIT: see notaz's correction below. Try a reboot and then plug in a USB2.0 device (external harddrive, flash drive, webcam, network adaptor) in after enabling USB host.

Just to let Notaz and others know:

The fix I posted that Notaz kindly outlined for me in IRC doesn't seem to persist over reboots. Not noticed until now, as I rarely use wifi, but it's damned annoying all the same.

Seems this update is seriously fucked up due to the need to appease the japanese?

Use this as instructed on the 1st page of this post.  This will solve you problem.

Upgrade instructions using the Full-Flash-Image:

Download SuperZaxxon Final v1.54

Please note: Flashing the new firmware will put your unit back into a default state. All your settings and users will be lost. Of course, this does not apply to PNDs which save their stuff on the SD-Card.

To install it, simply extract the archive onto the root of your SD Card.

Insert the SD Card into the left slot. Keep R (shoulder) pressed while switching on your Pandora and select "Boot from SD1"

It will then flash the firmware onto the NAND. After it's finished, reboot your Pandora and patiently wait until the First Boot Wizard appears on the screen.

If "Boot from SD1" doesn't appear, try to reformat the SD Card using Panasonic SD Formatter, recopy the files and retry.
To make things easier for me, I have a SD card labeled "Reflashing Card". I update it as new things come out. I also have everything I need to do after the reflash on sheets of paper all bundled up. Makes things alot easier and faster. With this way, reflashing takes about 30-45 minutes from start to finish.

Just a word of thanks of the ongoing work being done here.

Did the double update thing.  Like the addition of the SD mass storage option to the that status bar icon thingy.

After a restart (thanks notaz) my thumb drive works. But when I plug in my usb2.0 mouse it crashes the host... The mouse is an old Razer Copperhead, the box says it's usb2.0 so I don't know what's the issue, but thank you guys for the support!

About the SD mass storage option, I don't understand the point of it... We can acess our sd cards even with this turned off ?!... Any light on this topic is welcome!

Connect the Pandora via mini USB to a PC and activate mass storage for one of your cards - it will show up as removable deivce in the PC's file manager.

Mice are almost always USB1, what it's box says is probably incorrect.

Can you check if /etc/init.d/wl1251-init exists? If not, offline updater (updated today) should recover from this.

I guess it's "compatible with USB1-retrocompatible USB2 host". Ah! Marketting!..

Thank you!

No, this is not "Marketing". The packaging is entirely correct to claim is is a USB 2.0 mouse. The version of USB supported tells you NOTHING about the speed it is operating. USB 2.0 supports "Low Speed", "Full Speed", and "High Speed". A device claiming to be USB 2.0 can be any of those speeds.

The USB port on the Pandora only supports USB High Speed in violation of the USB specification.

Please don't blame other devices when the fault is entirely with the Pandora.

I understand why this choice was made: no room for an internal hub which would have eliminated this problem.

It is a quirk of the Pandora that Pandora users must learn to work around.

No, the file does not exist; I ran the updater (twice with no reboot between runs) and it still doesn't exist... And wifi still won't enable from the system menu.
The command line you gave me does work though, but of course the LED doesn't switch on.

You're running System->"SuperZaxxon 1.54 offline updater", right? And you did delete the old updater.pnd?

Missing /etc/init.d/wl1251-init means wl1251-modules package is botched, and that .pnd is supposed to take care of it, I really have no clue why it doesn't work for you.

Yes, that's exactly what happened. It's terribly annoying.

Try enabling wifi using modprobe method and:

sudo opkg update

sudo opkg install --force-reinstall wl1251-modules
Yes, that worked - I had to head into the startup services and disable "enable wifi on boot" but after that all is well and the system menu option to enable wifi works after a reboot.
cheers :)

Probably of no value whatsoever, but if it's reports you want, one you shall get:

Created an OS card with the latest 1.54 rootfs image, all went well except that on first boot the touchscreen wasn't responding, and when the calibration part of the process came up, it would always say calibration finished - even when the retry calibration button was clicked. Didn't matter, after a reboot it worked again.

About this subject, maybe it's not relevent, but I must say I have problem when I unplugs things. It tend to crash the big USB port if I don't disable it before, and have to restart the Pandora for USB to work again. This behavour is new to 1.54.
