So there I was, randomly browsing the web on my 1ghz rebirth Pandora when all of a sudden the screen dissolved into lots of grey lines. I tried rebooting but all I can get are grey lines all over the screen. Tried holding the right shoulder button down, taking the battery out and putting it back in etc. but to no avail.

Has anyone else come across this? Any suggestions gratefully received. I can maybe take a photo or some video footage to clarify what's happening.

This could be a weird software crash. Did you try a hard reset.Hold down the button with the pandora symbol on it whilst turning on the pandoras powerswitch.

A reflash of the firmware usually solves most problems for me.

thanks guys. Tried a hard reset, no joy, tried holding down right shoulder button when booting, no joy there either. I've attached a pic of what appears when I boot. Guess it'll have to go back.

looking at the leds and sounds, are you able to understand if it boots correctly ? Maybe you can blindly try starting a VNC session

There was burned smell and spots hotter than normal ?

I don't recall a burned smell when it happened and it doesn't seem any warmer than usual... you think it might be the LCD cable?

May be... at least in the picture the led is correctly lighted...

If you plug and after a while unplug the charger, does the red light turns on and off ?

yeah! the red led goes on and off. Also, though I can't see what's happening onscreen, I think it is still recognising when I press buttons or try to open applications.

Thanks for helping, btw :)

This could be the LCD - I had one out of the last 500 that was white from the very beginning!

Of course that'll be fixed. Please send it to:

Include a note telling me what's wrong and where to ship it back to.

If you let me know your shipping costs I can cover them as well.

Thanks Ed, much appreciated - I'll send it back to you at the start of the week.
