"Games that made you buy the console" thread

imma let you finish, but Dixie Kong was one of the best characters in Donkey Kong Country ever!

I usually look to see what games are announced later and look at trailers for the ones that interest me. But, I usually get it months before it comes out and a couple games to try out. Unfortunately I missed out on a *lot* of games in the past, usually finding out about a certain game series by the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th (that is, if it goes that high) game in that series.

I've seen some Vitas coming down in price by quite a bit, and since I'm now living in the US they are cheaper than back in the UK, I'm happy buying second hand too so when one comes up on craigslist or something I'll get one.

Yeah, get a white one when it comes out.
but then it wont match my pandora or ps3 :( im not bothered by the colour normally but the white one does look damn fine, i did have a white Go! when it came out at launch too, was going to have aliensstolemyconsole.com mod my PS3 but it wasn't practical to keep after moving overseas.

Zelda for the NES as well as the SNES. Still a big Zelda fan to this day because of those two systems. My first Dreamcast was because of Rez but I rebought a console recently for everything I missed. I bought the PS2 mainly for GTAIII and FF X. Gamecube for the limited Zelda disk that came with it. The Xbox 360 for Dead Rising and PS3 for Heavenly Sword. I picked up my DS for NSMB and I guess you could say the same for the 3DS with Mario 3D Land.

There were a bunch of other consoles I've owned but I didn't really buy them for any particular games. I do still want my own Jaguar because of Iron Soldier but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Iron Soldier on Jaguar was/is awful. It was bad when I owned it all those years ago and I'm sure it's infinitely worse now. I really liked the Jag - the control pads weren't nearly as bad as reviews suggested (at the time - of course now they'd be piss-poor next to the Xbox360 pad) and it had a small selection of excellent games. I bought my Jaguar primarily for AvP and Tempest2000 but also really enjoyed Doom, ThemePark and a few others. But generally I'm like Prometheus - rarely buy a machine for a specific game; getting the system for games I know are coming to it (or that I would expect to come to it - ie Nintendo franchises like Zelda etc.)
